About You:
Reporting to the Controller and working closely with the Senior Accountant, we are looking for a Staff Accountant for our Chicago office. As a Staff Accountant, you will perform a variety of general accounting related responsibilities. The ideal candidate will exhibit strong attention to detail, take an organized approach to their work and maintain a positive attitude while striving to make a positive impact on the organization.
Please note: This is a hybrid role, and coming into the downtown Chicago office a few times per month is required for this position.
You’ll be responsible for:
- Ensure company financials are prepared accurately and on time; coordinate with our accounting team to close the books each month
- Prepare monthly journal entries and help ensure accounting records are in accordance with US GAAP
- Reconcile balance sheet accounts and ensure accuracy and completeness
- Report variances from the budget and previous months and investigate drivers
- Assist in annual audit processes, including working with the company’s auditors to provide support and explain accounting processes and results
- Assist on ad-hoc projects, including potential merger and acquisition related activities
You’ll need to have:
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance or Accounting
- Solid knowledge of GAAP, tax, audit and legal regulations
- 1 to 3 years of experience as an accountant
- Strong analytical skills: can confidently approach situations and ambiguity with an inquisitive, solution-oriented mindset
- An ability to multi-task and adapt to changing business priorities
- Strong attention to detail and devoted to accuracy
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Additional things that will impress us:
- Strong team player
- Google and/or Microsoft Suite experience
- Experience with an ERP implementation
- Experience with ERP software such as NetSuite, Sage Intacct, Microsoft Dynamics and others
- CPA certification
The anticipated salary range for this position is $55,000 - $65,000. Salary is based on a range of factors that include relevant experience, expertise, physical location, and organizational impact. This is based on a 40-hour workweek and leveling. Keep in mind, we're flexible.
