Overview – Primarily responsible for creating optimized production schedule to help reduce costs, increase productivity, and deliver goods to customers on time.
Schedule
This position is 1st shift, with availability to work weekends on rotation.
This position may require working more than 40 hours in a work week.
Duties
- Find the most cost effective, efficient, and profitable way to move the freight according to customer requirements, with a focus on minimizing waste.
- Responsible for efficient routing of our shipments to ensure proper load building, capacity optimization, and on-time delivery.
- Build and manage daily shipping schedules for all modes.
- Determine and monitor location of trucks, available loads, and strategize to meet customer needs, to include loads taken, routes utilized, changes, or cancellation of load assignments. Understand daily capacity needs and opportunities. Communicate concerns to management as appropriate.
- Analyze transportation patterns to determine if the most cost-effective measures are in place. Make recommendations for improvement as needed.
- Create, update and maintain required reports pertaining to load planning.
- Enter required information into TMS ensuring data accuracy.

Respond to customer inquiries (email, telephone, etc.) as needed.
- Provide detailed instruction to various customers and team members from other shifts by phone and e-mail.
- Provide back-up support to Operations team and handle overflow issues as they arise, to include dispatching necessary personnel to drivers in emergency situations and issuing alternate routes to maintain service standards during inclement weather.
- Communicate with Operations team concerning any alteration to the schedule, loads, etc....
- Ensure the successful dispatch of planned loads and subsequent ownership of loads for assigned area in coordination with the Operations team.
- Comply with all applicable DOT laws and regulations, as well as established company policies, procedures, and practices.
- Perform other duties as required.
Requirements
- Previous work experience in logistics, supply chain, logistics dispatch, or related.
- Must be proficient in the use of PC's, Microsoft Office, and database management.
- Good verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to multi-task.
- Excellent problem solving and analytical skills.
- Manage multiple projects and deadlines.
