Des Moines Public Schools is looking for Assistant HS Activities Director at Lincoln High School for the 2024-2025 school year.
Stipend for this position: $8,822.00
Stipend amounts are based on a percentage of the base salary negotiated by DMEA. Stipends are subject to be prorated if the full season is not worked.
TITLE: ACTV Assistant HS Activities Director
DEPARTMENT: Activities and Athletics
REPORTS TO: Activities Director
RECEIVES GUIDANCE FROM: Building Administrator, District Director of Activities
FLSA STATUS: Non-Exempt
BASIC FUNCTION:
Assist the Activity Director in developing and upholding activities vision, mission statement, and program philosophy while cultivating relationships within the school.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
1. Support and manage all non-athletic co-curricular and extra-curricular student activities as directed by the Activity Director.
2. Support the school’s activities’ programs and their sponsor • Facilitate an action plan for each program • Help with team travel and other event day logistics as directed • Help coordinate tournaments, contests, and other events for the activities programs.
3. Serves as the primary liaison to stipend/non-stipend student leadership clubs and organizations.
4. Organize and supervise athletic post-season surveys (coaches and student-athletes) and activity survey completion
5. Prepare attendance and academic reports via Tableau and Infinite Campus • Serve as the point person for teaching coaches/sponsors how to utilize Tableau and Infinite Campus tools • Help support Activities Administrator in regards to activities eligibility
6. Social Media and Website Development • Follow DMPS recommendations on social media use • Utilize the DMPS website to keep community stakeholders up-to-date • Use various mediums to showcase students, programs, and the district
7. Works directly with the Middle School Activities Coordinator at feeder schools in providing support and direction, as determined by Activity Director.
8. Monitors data and works directly with the Activity Director to find solutions to gaps in service to critical sub-populations, as determined by the district.
9. Submit reports as requested that helps determine the needs and maintenance of existing facilities for activities programs
10. Supervision as needed (not to exceed 40% of the overall workload)
11. Serves as liaison to parents of athletic programs with weekly in-season communication and monthly out-of-season communication (letter, social media, email, website)
12. Assist with the organization, planning, registration of summer camps, youth coaches’ clinic, and community events associated with the athletic program
13. Organize, plan, and assist in scheduling parent meetings with high school programs and feeder teams
14. Work with the head coach and activities director on the planning and organizing of halftime events with youth feeder involvement, special admission nights, setting appearances by coaches/teams at elementary schools
15. Meets weekly with the Activity Director

HIRING SPECIFICATIONS:
Required:
1. Two years of teaching or coaching experience
2. Must have the ability to learn Microsoft Office and other DMPS software programs
3. Strong communication, time management and organizational skills, public relations, and interpersonal skills
4. High school diploma or equivalent
Desired:
1. Knowledge of overall operations of an athletic program
2. Ability to implement policy and procedures.
3. Valid driver’s license.
