The Financial Aid Counselor position evaluates application information and prepares financial aid packages for students. The Counselor ensures that the University is in compliance with the State, Federal and Institutional policies and regulations that govern the financial aid process. The Financial Aid Counselor advises current and prospective students and their families on financial aid procedures and processes. They work to keep open lines of communication with various University Offices such as Admissions, Adult Studies, Registrar, and Bursar. The Counselor works with external agencies such as PHEAA, Department of Education, Inceptia, lenders, and guarantee agencies to resolve processing, certification and payment issues. This position serves as the main point of contact for a designated group of students providing customer service, financial aid counseling, packaging, and processing. The counselor typically oversees administrative tasks for a particular student aid program or process within the Financial Aid Office.
Qualifications:
· Bachelor’s degree required
· 1 to 3 years financial aid experience preferred
· Knowledge of Federal Title IV and state regulations
· Positive attitude and good interpersonal skills
· Ability to communicate with individuals and large groups required
· Ability to effectively manage multiple tasks
· Must be computer literate
· Sensitive to issues of ethnicity, disability and diversity
· Dedicated to the mission of a small, Catholic, liberal arts institution
