What are the responsibilities and job description for the Travel Trade Sales Manager position at Destination Niagara USA?
JOB SUMMARY
This position’s primary purpose is to develop and promote group leisure visitation to Niagara Falls USA and to provide administrative support to the Director of Travel Trade Sales through database management and client communication/coordination.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES
Sales 50%
- Represent Destination Niagara USA at domestic tradeshows that require overnight travel.
- Communicate with tour operators and other group tour entities in order to promote Niagara Falls USA as an attractive group leisure destination.
- Develop new group leisure markets by working to identify new tradeshows and conferences.
- Provide advance coordination for all tradeshow preparations including but not limited to, partner buy-in sponsorships, shipping trade show booth and collateral, ordering giveaways and prizes, and any other assistance as needed.
- Coordinate quarterly sales meetings with local industry partners.
- Coordinate familiarization (FAM) tours including partner communication and itinerary building.
- Manage Travel Trade Rewards program.
Administrative/Support 50%
- Input sales leads in the CRM system with complete and accurate data and tags.
- Follow up on leads received from trade shows and other sources by sending/delivering requested information and assisting with special requests.
- Assist in developing and gathering information for collateral pieces and website.
- Collect and record hotel room pick-up from past groups.
- Coordinate prize giveaways/winner itineraries.
- Maintain a well-informed and working knowledge of the tourism products and services available across Niagara County.
- Prepare and deliver any VIP amenities as required.
- Assist groups with purchasing attraction tickets, preparing welcome bags and providing step-on services as needed.
- General office work including answering phones, mailings, etc.
- Other duties as assigned.
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
- General industry knowledge
- Sales or customer service experience
- Excellent written, oral communication and organization skills
- Well versed in Microsoft Office and the ability to easily learn new software applications
- Willing to travel outside of the region using all modes of transportation including use of personal vehicle
- Must have valid passport/enhanced driver’s license
- Strong problem solver, shows initiative
- Team player, collaborative in style of work
- Positive, diplomatic, professional attitude
- Strong attention to detail and follow-through
QUALIFICATION STANDARDS
Bachelors’ degree in related field and one year of experience handling similar duties OR an Associate’s Degree and three year’s of experience. Previous CRM experience strongly preferred.
ERGONOMIC REQUIREMENTS
Sitting, standing, stooping, bending, heavy lifting (50 pounds), carrying, repetitive movements due primarily to computer work. All of the ergonomic requirements must be performed without significant risk of injury to oneself or others, or otherwise demonstrate or explain how one can perform essential functions listed above.
