The Detroit Athletic Club, long recognized as one of the finest private Clubs in the country, is seeking qualified candidates for the Accounting Clerk position (full and part time positions open).
Job Summary:
Responsible for providing clerical support to all areas of the accounting department and the accounting team. Will perform a variety of accounting, bookkeeping and administrative tasks.
Primary Responsibilities:
General office duties to include answering phones for the department, preparing check deposits, opening mail, distributing mail, filing, and ordering supplies
Member services will also be a primary responsibility through correspondence of email, telephone and in person contact
Organize reports and documentation for Committee and Board Meetings
Maintain files and documentation thoroughly and accurately for all Journal entries, Accounts Payable documents in accordance with company policy and GAAP
Research, track, and solve member concerns through email and phone contact
Record business transactions and key daily worksheets to the general ledger system
Prepare the mailing of member statements and complete mailing process
Prepare event hosted bars drink tickets and deliver to banquet
Assist with Accounts Receivable, Accounts Payable, Revenue and all other areas of the department
Assist with various projects as needed in the Accounting Department
Qualifications:
High school diploma required
Associate or bachelor’s degree in accounting or related field preferred.
Experience in an office environment
Basic accounting principles knowledge, documentation skills, research and resolution skills, data analysis and multi-tasking skills
General knowledge of applicable accounts payable/accounts receivable and general ledger systems and procedures, financial chart of accounts and corporate procedures
Ability to perform mathematical computations such as percentages, fractions, addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division quickly and accurately
High degree of proficiency with Microsoft Office software (Excel, MS Word)
Knowledge of Northstar Accounting or similar software is a plus
