The Detroit Athletic Club, long recognized as one of the finest private Clubs in the country, is seeking qualified candidates for Full-Time Bellman.
Job Summary
Provide a warm first impression for all arriving members and guests, as well as assist with member and guest arrivals, from exiting the vehicle to their final destination within the Clubhouse. This includes, but is not limited to: luggage assistance, package assistance, providing directions (both within the Club and throughout the city), escorting members and guests to their destination within the Clubhouse, assisting members and guests during check in and check out, as well as any member or guest requests that may arise throughout the day. Tactfully and successfully enforce Club policy and ensure the safety, security and wellbeing of members, guests, employees and the Club’s assets.
Responsibilities and Duties
Serve as a visible deterrent to crime and clubhouse rule infractions
Prevent intruders from entering club property and clubhouse (including vagrants, panhandlers, etc.)
Monitor Courtyard and surface parking area, preventing unauthorized vehicles and people from using these areas
Remain at post unless a replacement is present or during emergency situations.
Monitor and report, respond to suspicious activity
Enforce all rules and regulations of Club that govern employees, members, and guests
Maintain a clean first impression when members, guests enter the club (clean windows, empty interior/exterior ashtrays, vacuum carpets and runners)
Provide a helpful, courteous and pleasant assistance to members and guests upon arrival and departure
During busy times of business, assist valets as members, guests arrive at the club
Must be able to lift heavy items (luggage, boxes, etc.) up to 50 lbs
Safely maneuver luggage carts throughout the club without damaging the club interior
Any other duties as directed
Requirements
Must be detailed oriented
Must have good vision and be able to use extremities to: lift, bend, walk, run, work/stand indoors or outdoors
Must be capable of communicating via two-way radio
Must be flexible to work any shift and able to be on your feet for long periods of time
Maintain a neat and professional demeanor
Ability to provide quality member service
Ability to perform essential functions of the position with or without reasonable accommodation
Must be at least 18 years of age
High School diploma or GED
