What are the responsibilities and job description for the Deli Associate position at Detwiler's Farm Market Group?

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

Observe all store rules and company policies and adhere to all local, state, federal health and civil code regulations including full compliance with all applicable laws pertaining to safety, health, and packaging requirements.
Assist in receiving and unloading merchandise as needed.
Check and verify incoming shipments to ensure that items listed on vendor invoices are all delivered.
Check products for dates, count, and package condition.
Learn to keep all deli products or merchandise rotated by product code dates and always make use of the oldest products first (first in, first out).
Handle damaged and spoiled products according to deli procedures.
May need to answer phones and take special orders.
Wrap, package, and price all product accurately and legibly in accordance with established department procedures and guidelines.
Assist with the preparation of fresh sandwiches, salads, soups etc.
Keep the Deli Manager or other designated personnel aware of low inventory conditions or excessive spoilage problems.
Perform all counter duties to exemplify our mission statement.
Ensure cleanliness of Deli and storage areas.
Follow sweep log guidelines.
Must wear an approved hat or hair net.
Perform other duties and assignments as directed.
