The Director of Financial Systems will lead a Financial Systems Team in managing all of Turnitin’s financial systems. The Director of Financial Systems will be part of the accounting team and report directly to the Senior Director of Accounting and Control.
The ideal candidate will have an extensive background in financial systems, accounting and finance, strong project management skills (both as a leader and executor), and familiarity in setting up a sound internal controls structure. They will be able to independently prioritize multiple tasks, bringing projects and operational deliverables to completion. The candidate should be able to sustain productivity in a fast-paced environment, and display a strong work ethic, good judgment, initiative, and attention to detail. In addition, the candidate will possess excellent written and verbal communication skills, a friendly, service-oriented attitude, and the demonstrated capacity to improve efficiency and processes.
Key Responsibilities:
- Oversee the administration of our Netsuite ERP system and related financial systems, including but not limited to, security, master data and its governance, financial and operational modules, report writing, user training, problem solving, and data interfaces/integrations
- Manage a team of 2 in maintaining and improving the company’s various financial systems
- Design and implement optimal processes and software configurations that ensure a strong controls framework and execution of the company’s strategic initiatives
- Oversee planning and prioritization of system enhancements and design specifications for current and future generations of the ERP system
- Proactively suggest ideas for future software product enhancements and process automation, partnering with both IT and the software developer to execute on these ideas
- Write and build reports as requested by various stakeholders
- Support and develop the catalog of all business rule calculation scripts, allocations, and custom calculations
- Lead the integration of newly acquired entities into our financial systems and take part in the related project management meetings
- Support and drive the management of organisational data changes (chart of accounts, posting profiles, item groups etc.)
- Provide timely technical support for all finance systems and oversee the Incident and problem identification and logging via Jira tickets and the finance systems email
- Partner with internal clients to understand and execute their perspectives, objectives, and initiatives to ultimately meet current and future client business demands
- Perform system audits and reconciliations for data integrity and security
- Coordinate with IT for resolution of application and infrastructure issues for support and user requests
- Oversee and provide training to new users and ongoing skill enhancement training to existing users
- Write and maintain policies and procedures for all financial systems including documented internal controls
- Document solutions and conclusions to known problems
- Manage the vendor relationships for all finance systems
- Drive best practice through a continuous improvement framework as designed and agreed with the Finance Leadership Team
Qualifications/Experience:
- At least 10 years of proven experience in a similar position managing the full administration of financial systems, particularly the ERP system, Netsuite
- At least 7 years of management experience
- At least 5 years of NetSuite administration experience
- At least 5 of report writing and building experience
- Chartered Accountant
- Previous experience at a big 4 firm is a plus
- Proven experience in financial and management accounting processes and controls
- Qualified accountant with experience in an analytical or technical role
- Strong Google Suite skills and experience
- Experience implementing, maintaining, and improving ERPs (e.g Netsuite / Sage X3 / SAP / Oracle)
- Sound knowledge of data management architecture, governance and maintenance
- Extensive understanding of NetSuite, including experience in advanced revenue management (ARM), multi-book accounting, and being integrated with a SFDC CPQ environment and SFDC billing
- Good technical understanding of business processes and accounting impact of any master data changes
- Technology industry experience is a plus
- Proven track record of being able to multitask and deliver complex projects
- Ability to productively collaborate with various teams to manage action items and meet deadlines
- Ability to partner with cross-functional peers and other key stakeholders while successfully driving change management
