Dewberry is currently seeking an experienced Deputy Survey Department Manager to manage and expand Surveying and related Mapping Services within Dewberry’s Richmond, VA Office. Applicant must be responsible, highly motivated, and a detail oriented individual interested in joining our Land Surveying department. Applicant must be able to work in a fast paced environment, manage multiple projects, daily coordination with Survey Manager and key office staff, prepare proposals and be successful in business development and managing the surveying staff while assisting in the performance of boundary, ALTA, topographic, platting, right-of way acquisition, transmission line, transportation, and construction surveys utilizing the latest equipment and surveying technology.

Responsibilities
- Assist survey staff with all aspects of a survey project.
- Assist with the business development and preparation of contracts.
- Coordinate with Survey Department manager, office staff & field staff with daily workload, schedules and needs.
- Follow policy & procedures to insure all deliverables are done accurately and efficiently.
- QA/QC Plats prior to Manager review.
- Prepare budgets / proposals, marketing / business development and monthly invoicing
- Work both independently and in group environments.
- Work both in an office environment and a field environment.
- Must have High School Diploma, AAS degree in Land Surveying preferred.
- Active Land Surveying license required for Virginia or ability to obtain; Multi-State licensure is a plus.
- Active Land Surveying license required for North Carolina or ability to obtain.
- Must have a minimum of seven (7) years of survey experience and project management.
- Must have excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Must have the ability to work and interact with clients.
- Must be proficient with all aspects of computing, drafting, and CAD standards.
- Must be proficient with AutoCAD, Carlson Civil, Survey Suite. Microstation/GeoPak is a plus.
- Must have a diverse survey experience including: Boundary surveys, topographic surveys, route surveys, construction stakeout and transportation surveys.
- Must be proficient with GPS/GNS systems and use of RTK/VRS and post processing of survey data (Static - Network Least Squares Reduction).
- Experience with laser scanning is a plus.
- Must have the ability to perform deed research, process field data collector files; resolve boundaries and prepare CAD files, metes and bounds descriptions, and final plats.
- Must have the ability to perform all aspects of an ALTA Survey.
- Must be dependable, conscientious, self-motivated and driven.
- Must be able to work overtime as required.
- Must be willing and able to do short term travel.
- Must have a valid driver’s license, good driving record and ability to pass a driving record background check.
- Must pass a mandatory drug test.
