Dewberry’s Fairfax, Virginia office is currently seeking a Structural Engineer for designing building, facilities, and infrastructure-type structures.  This is an excellent career opportunity for an enthusiastic and talented individual to work with outstanding professionals. The individual will perform structural analysis, design, modeling, calculations, and plan production.  Types of projects would include design, renovation, and/or repairs to industrial, school facilities, higher education facilities, office buildings, commercial buildings, water and wastewater structures,  civil/site structures, and perform structural forensics/condition assessments.

Responsibilities

• Develop, perform, and manage structural design.
• Perform field investigations, observations and construction site visits.
• Review shop drawings and respond to RFIs from contractor.
• Assign tasks to and coordinates with entry-level engineers, technicians, or administrative staff.
• Attend meetings with client, contractor or other design partners.
• Work with design teams across multiple offices and multiple disciplines to generate detailed design documents for construction plans.
• Develop and maintain high-value client relationships.
• Meet client deadlines and project budgets. 

Required Skills & Required Experience

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil/Structural Engineering or Architectural Engineering with a structural focus. 
• Master’s degree in Civil/Structural Engineering (preferred).
• 5 years of structural engineering experience.
• Professional Engineering (PE) License in Virginia and Maryland, or ability to obtain them through reciprocity within one year of start date.
• Familiarity with Revit and/or AutoCAD is preferred.
• A successful track record of managing projects, including scope, schedule and budget.
• Experience coordinating engineering work and interfacing with other disciplines and clients.
• Proficiency in MS Office software.
• Experience using structural software such as RAM, RAM Elements, STAAD, Enercalc, TEDDS, or Tekla is preferred.
• Solid verbal and written communication skills required.
• Ability to work and thrive in a team environment.
