Dewberry’s Fairfax, Virginia office is currently seeking a Structural Engineer for designing building, facilities, and infrastructure-type structures. Types of projects would include design, renovation, and/or repairs to industrial, school facilities, higher education facilities, office buildings, commercial buildings, water and wastewater structures, civil/site structures, and perform structural forensics/condition assessments.

Responsibilities
- Develop, perform, and manage structural design.
- Perform field investigations, observations and construction site visits.
- Review shop drawings and respond to RFIs from contractor.
- Assign tasks to and coordinates with entry-level engineers, technicians, or administrative staff.
- Attend meetings with client, contractor or other design partners.
- Work with design teams across multiple offices and multiple disciplines to generate detailed design documents for construction plans.
- Develop and maintain high-value client relationships.
- Meet client deadlines and project budgets.
Required Skills & Required Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil/Structural Engineering or Architectural Engineering with a structural focus.
- Master’s degree in Civil/Structural Engineering (preferred).
- 5 years of structural engineering experience.
- Professional Engineering (PE) License in Virginia and Maryland, or ability to obtain them through reciprocity within one year of start date.
- Familiarity with Revit and/or AutoCAD is preferred.
- A successful track record of managing projects, including scope, schedule and budget.
- Experience coordinating engineering work and interfacing with other disciplines and clients.
- Proficiency in MS Office software.
- Experience using structural software such as RAM, RAM Elements, STAAD, Enercalc, TEDDS, or Tekla is preferred.
- Solid verbal and written communication skills required.
- Ability to work and thrive in a team environment.
