What are the responsibilities and job description for the Technical Writer position at Dexian?
Under limited supervision, the technical writer is responsible for the documentation of system requirements, functionality, configuration, processes, data requirements, APIs, and other technical content. The technical writer will work with users, business analysts, and system developers to capture information from system design/development through maintenance and update cycles. The ability to read and understand some code is ideal for this position.
Key Responsibilities
- Planning, writing, or updating documentation for primary systems as assigned by the documentation manager.
- Working with system architect and developers to document system requirements, components, configuration, and processes.
- Assisting the project manager with determining the appropriate level of documentation required for systems based on complexity and user requirements.
- Working with business analysts to incorporate business requirements.
- Maintaining all system documentation standards.
- Executing multiple projects from concept to publication under changing conditions while coordinating input from numerous sources.
- Providing editorial, formatting, and proofreading assistance for producing internal and external documentation.
- Utilizing company templates, style guides, and standard conventions to document systems
- Collaborating with SMEs and representatives from multiple departments.
- Performing other writing or proofreading projects as requested.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with topic-based writing concepts
- Markup language experience (HTML, XML)
- Experience with XML/DITA authoring software
- Experience with JIRA, GitHub, and Confluence
- Exposure to Microsoft Azure, Agile, Power BI, Java, C#, or SQL, is preferred.
- Experience with writing to a style guide
- Advanced proficiency and experience using Microsoft 365 (Outlook, Teams, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint)
- Proficiency in Adobe Acrobat
- Strong written/oral communication skills and cross-functional teamwork skills
- Ability to multi-task and manage a workload to achieve project deliverable deadlines.
Knowledge, Skills and Experience:
- 4 Year / Bachelors degree in Technical Writing, a related field or equivalent education and/or experience.
- 10 years of relevant and progressive professional experience
Other:
- Possess and have the ability to apply broad knowledge of principles, practices, and procedures
- Excellent written and verbal communications skills with an emphasis on confidentiality, tact, and diplomacy
- Intermediate proficiency and experience using Microsoft Office package (Excel, Access, PowerPoint, Word)
