Position Summary

Reporting to the Plant Manager, the position will have the responsibility for securing raw materials, equipment, supplies and services as needed to maintain the operations of the business unit. Specific duties include:

• Insures the uninterrupted flow of high quality, cost effective goods and services to support operations and inventory objectives.
• Execute both tactical and strategic elements of procurement to maximize service level to customers at minimum cost while maintaining a high level of supplier quality.
• Read and understand the manufacturing production schedule.
• In partnership with Commodity Manager, manage vendor and supplier relationships.
• Material planning based on dynamic production schedules, sales forecast and supplier lead-times
• Build strong relationships with internal and external business partners, fostering collaboration and teamwork.
• Creates and approves purchase orders in ERP System.
• Supervises scheduling and delivery of materials though MRP and Non-MRP releases.
• Maintain strict control over inventory levels in order to meet internal and external demand of product utilizing the ERP system and scheduling board.
• Provides purchasing service and information for other departments as required.
• Work directly with Corporate Purchasing to drive key purchasing strategies forward.
• Coordinate with Quality in documenting and resolving supplier corrective action reports (SCAR).
• Cycle counting of inventory.
• Other duties as assigned.

Requirements

• 3-5 years purchasing or supply chain experience in manufacturing environment. Materials management experience preferred.
• Experience in Microsoft Office Suite highly desired with emphasis in Excel Skills.
• Strong leadership skills.
• Excellent communication skills.
• Uses effective root cause analysis though tools such as LEAN Problem solving, 8D process, etc.
• High energy, self-motivated and proactive, marked by a positive attitude and having a willingness to persevere and get to yes.
• Self-directed, extremely organized and can manage multiple activities simultaneously.
