Hiring for an established Diabetes clinic in Houston, TX.
The Medical Assistant will be responsible for preparing patients to be seen by providers. Clinical duties include taking and recording patient vital signs and medical histories, administering injections and other medications as directed by provider.
Essential Functions:
- Rooms and interviews patients for medical history, prescription changes, and other updates.
- Takes and records vital signs including height, weight, blood pressure, pulse, and temperature.
- Charts notes in electronic medical records (EMR) system
- Cleans work station, workup area, and patient rooms. Stocks and restocks all necessary supplies; Cleans out expired drugs from sample closet.
- Prepares next day schedules and paperwork including chart covers, labs, etc.
- Requests Medical records from other providers needed for appointment.
Qualifications
Essential knowledge, skills, and abilities:
- 1 year of prior Medical Assistant experience (Endocrinology preferred)
- Excellent customer services skills and professionalism
- Active listening
- Reading comprehension
- Familiarity with Endocrine terminology and common diagnoses
- Works well with teammates, providers, and other departments
- Able to work independently with minimal supervision
- Discretion
- Attention to detail
- Strong organizational and time management skills
- Skilled in giving injections
- Able to reach, bend, squat, and kneel
- Proficient in Electronic Medical Records (eCW must)
- Strong verbal and written communication skills English and Spanish
- Familiarity with Microsoft Outlook, Excel and Word and other computer functions
Additional Non-Essential knowledge, skills, and abilities:
- Able to move or lift up to 50 pounds
