Reports Directly To: Program Manager and Lead Certified Diabetes Care and Education Specialist
About the Diabetes Educator Role: The Diabetes Foundation is dedicated to helping children and adults who are at risk of developing diabetes to those who are living with Type 1, Type 2, and gestational diabetes. Our work includes providing tangible services such as medication, A1c screenings, transportation, and monitoring supplies to working directly working our participants to educate them about the important aspects of care related to diabetes from physical activity and healthy eating, to monitoring and medication management. The role is up to 10 hours weekly.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities:
- Educate individuals with diabetes or at risk for diabetes in a group setting virtually or in-person.
- Use our certified DSMES program education format and materials.
- Provide education to DSMES participants throughout New Jersey.
- Educate on appropriate diabetes-related care and self-management techniques.
- Support the significance of pertinent lifestyle changes.
- Promote diabetes-related best practices within public spheres to boost well-being.
- Take part in Individual Education Visits virtually on topics focused on diabetes-related care and self-management techniques.
- As time allots support DF through development of webinars and additional education material to support the public
- Record educational diabetes self-management videos to be distributed amongst participants, referrers, and caretakers in a professional studio.
Core Competencies:
- Certified Diabetes Educator; Maintain certification, Registered Nurse, or Pharmacist
- Bilingual Spanish preferred.
- Dedicated to mission of Diabetes Foundation
- Diligent about fulfilling responsibilities.
- Adept at being flexible, and able to navigate challenges.
- Ability to work evenings and weekends.
- Strong interpersonal, written, and spoken communications skill.

Pay: $30.00 - $40.00 per hour
Expected hours: 1 – 4 per week
