Banquet Manager
The Banquet Manager is responsible for producing an event that meets and exceeds guest expectations through outstanding execution, flawless service, and professionalism.
Applicants must be able to anticipate project needs, prioritize, meet deadlines with little supervision, and be able to work evenings and weekends. Qualified individuals should have a love for special event management, provide outstanding customer service, be an enthusiastic professional, and be able to build relationships with internal and external customers.
Responsibilities include:
- Setting-up, servicing, and breaking-down all special events including weddings, social & corporate events
- Coordinating with the Sales Department prior to all events to ensure that menu meets specifications of the BEO
- Hiring, training, disciplining and supervising staff to build a strong team of professional servers
- Executing room layouts to best accommodate the proper number of guests, vendors, and activities specific to each event
- Scheduling staff for set-up, service, and break-down of each event while maintaining tight labor cost budgets
- Attending Manager, Staff and BEO meetings on a regular basis
- Working closely with the Event Coordinator and Sales staff to realize and create an event to match the customer’s vision
- Maintaining and tracking banquet inventory of linens, barware, cutlery, service dishes, and related items
- Overseeing off-site catered events
- Completing a function critique and labor cost analysis
- Developing and maintaining department control procedures and staff manual
- Supervising, reviewing and approving weekly timecards and payroll
- Responding to customer grievances
- Inspecting event space prior to event to ensure that customer specifications are met
- Conducting pre-event staff meetings consistent with ongoing training and education
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree preferred
- Minimum of 2 years’ experience in position of Banquet Manager/Supervisor
- Excellent interpersonal skills
- Ability to accomplish projects with little supervision
- Exceptional customer service ethic and high expectations for quality
- Proficient computer skills including Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook
- Ability to frequently stand, walk, traverse stairs, carry trays, set-up chairs/tables, and move equipment
- Must be available evenings, weekends and holidays
