Summary:
The position sits within the Land Administration department but works closely with other departments to achieve the mapping needs of the organization. The GIS Analyst is expected to perform a variety of duties in support of this mission. Domain knowledge of the oil and gas industry is preferred along with proficient knowledge of GIS concepts such as spatial data creation and management, data visualization, spatial analysis, and systems administration.
Job Duties and Responsibilities:
- Manage key surface data layers including pipelines and pipeline features
- Read and interpret regulatory documents, well plats, survey plats and lease documents
- Digitize spatial features from legal documents, plats and other data source
- Work daily reports for quality control
- Manage content stored in ArcSDE geodatabases and SQL server
- Create custom maps and visual aids per user request
- Export spatial data in a variety of formats for internal and external use
- Design and process queries to extract, manipulate and analyze data
- Assist with special projects involving thematic map creation, data conversion and/or quality control
- Configure and maintain models and scripts to automate workflow processes
- Other duties as assigned by management
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s in GIS or applicable related field OR four (4) years of equivalent experience in the GIS field
- Proficiency using ArcGIS Desktop 10.8 or higher and related tools and extensions including ArcGIS Pro
- Basic understanding of platting and surveying methods
- Experience with spatial data, including use of map projections and coordinate systems
Preferred Qualifications:
- At least two (2 ) years of experience in Oil and Gas
- Demonstrated experience in Microsoft Office (i.e. Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook)
- Knowledge of oil and gas land concepts such as leases, contracts, special provisions, right of way, etc.
- Experience with Surface Infrastructure, features, and attributes
- Familiarity with ArcGIS Pro, ArcGIS Enterprise and Esri-related mobile applications
- Basic programming and scripting skills
- Familiarity of mapping by metes and bounds descriptions
- Understanding of key concepts in model builder and/or FME and scripts for workflow processes
- Proven high degree of accuracy and attention to detail
- Proven track record of being able to problem solve and think creatively
- Ability to suggest and implement process improvements to increase efficiency
