Applications Manager

Diesel Direct, Inc. is seeking a applications management level individual contributor in our Stoughton, MA office. Reporting to the Chief Technology Officer, the role is to help plan and coordinate, participate in, and manage all aspects of the applications environment. This individual will collaborate directly with decision makers in other departments to identify, recommend, develop, implement, and support cost effective applications solutions for the organization.
The primary goal is to manage and provide support for the application portfolio for each department and to create and attain all IT service level agreements for the user community within the organization.
· Participate in IT department operational planning, including business requirements, project planning, and organizing and negotiating the allocation of resources
· Establish yourself as the application expert for the business by learning every aspect of the business
· Identify opportunities for the appropriate and cost-effective investment of financial resources in IT systems and resources, including staffing, sourcing, purchasing, and in-house development
· Keep current with trends and issues in the IT and application industries, including current technologies and prices. Advise, counsel, and educate executives and management on their competitive or financial impact
· Provide the technical proficiency for the business critical billing application
· Provide day-to-day management of release schedules
· Provide triage and support for the SQL and .Net environments
· Provide day-to-day management of the third party development organization
· Create analytical tools and models to provide information required to reach the organization’s goals
Experience/Skill Set
· University degree in the field of computer science, information systems, or applications.
· 3-5 years experience working in a variety of IT application areas (DB, Financial, Server, Dekstop). Experience with SQL Database and .Net preferred
· Experience in Logistics / Petroleum business preferred
· Good understanding of computer systems characteristics, features, and integration capabilities.
· Substantial exposure to data processing, hardware platforms, enterprise software applications, and outsourced systems, including Microsoft Windows, SQL, and Accounting Systems.
· Experience with database design and development from business requirements analysis through to day-to-day management.
· Ability to effectively prioritize and execute tasks in a high-pressure environment
· Extensive experience working in a team-oriented, collaborative environment
