Job Description
We are looking for a Controller to develop accounting policies and oversee all accounting procedures of our company. As the Controller, you’ll monitor the company’s financial performance, review quarterly and annual budgets and manage accounting transactions. To be successful in this role, you should have in-depth knowledge of US Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and experience with risk management. Ultimately, you’ll make sure we comply with accounting regulations, maximize profits and mitigate risks.

Responsibilities
- Develop and implement, document, monitor and update accounting policies
- Manage monthly financial reporting process, including overseeing bookkeepers and preparing monthly financial reporting packs
- Assist in developing quarterly and annual budgets for all departments and provide regular reporting on results against those budgets
- Ensure all payments are completed on time (including accounts payable and bank deposits)
- Analyze costs and profits; identify financial risks and opportunities for efficiencies
- Manage liquidity, including regular updates to liquidity forecasts
- Ensure timely filing of income and indirect tax returns across State, Local, Federal jurisdictions, including maintaining accurate settings in the Company’s sales tax application and overseeing external tax professionals
- Ensure compliance with US GAAP, including revenue recognition (ASC 606), inventory accounting, and income tax accounting (ASC 740)
Qualifications
- 5 years of relevant experience, including 3 years of public accounting experience.
- Experience with CPG inventory and COGS for an ecommerce business
- Thorough knowledge of accounting principles and procedures
- Hands-on experience with general ledger accounts payable and accounts receivable functions
- Ability to work independently and work across departments
- Experience with QuickBooks Online, Avalara, inventory management systems and bill.com are all pluses
- Strong MS Excel skills and experience employing technology and automation
- BS or MS in Accounting or Finance
- CPA or CMA preferred
Location: This position can be remote, but NYC is preferred.
