Manager of Disability Support Services
DigiPen Institute of Technology, in Redmond, Washington, is seeking an enthusiastic and pro-active individual who is committed to student success to join the Student Affairs team as a Manager of Disability Support Services. DigiPen was founded in 1988 and is a leading institution of higher education dedicated to educating bachelor's and master's students in the fields of game programming, production animation, computer engineering, game design, music and sound design.
Reporting to the Vice President of Student Support, the Manager of DSS is responsible for “start-to-finish” processes of providing and coordinating services to students with disabilities. The Manager of DSS serves as the resource person at the Institute for students with disabilities; works with faculty, staff, community organizations and the general public to meet the needs of students with disabilities.
This position is exempt, full-time, with some evening and weekend hours required and is based out of our Redmond, WA campus with some flexible, hybrid work.
Duties and Responsibilities
Essential

  • Provide strategic leadership for the development and implementation of initiatives, policies and procedures related to services for students with disabilities.
  • Ensure accountability of the office through preparation and maintenance of administrative records and reports.
  • Evaluate disability documentation from qualified professionals.
  • Work with other administrative staff to assist in management of testing accommodations for students with disabilities.
  • Supervise disability records management with attention to the protection of confidentiality of all student records (disability documentation, database, case notes) and in accordance with Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA) regulations.
  • Coordinates and provides various academic accommodations and services to students with disabilities.
  • Coordinates note taking assistance accommodation and priority seating accommodations.
  • Work with publishing companies and vendors to acquire materials in alternative format.
  • Coordinate media caption requests for educational materials.
  • Process and coordinate housing accommodation requests in collaboration with DigiPen Housing LLC.
  • Provide training for students, faculty, and staff in the use of basic assistive technology.
  • Works with faculty, staff and other offices to provide coordinated academic support services to all students, in particular students with disabilities.
  • Participates in orientation/early registration activities for new students.
  • Maintains and accurately documents required student records and manages student files for monitoring and referral purposes.
  • Facilitates short-term equipment loans.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Other

  • Attends professional development activities related to student and academic development.
  • Other duties as assigned by the Vice President of Student Support.

Minimum Requirements

  • Master’s degree in guidance and counseling, adult and higher education, social work, vocational rehabilitation, clinical psychology, or a related area.
  • At least 3 years of experience working with college students with disabilities.
  • Demonstrated oral and written communication skills.
  • Organizational skills.
  • Knowledge of federal laws relevant to work in this position, including Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973 and the Americans with Disabilities Act of 1990.

Additional Desirable Qualifications

  • Experience working with students with autism spectrum disorders and students with learning disabilities.
  • Demonstrated creativity, flexibility and proven interpersonal skills.

Some weekend and evening hours required.
