Full Time, Exempt Position
OVERALL RESPONSIBILITY:
The Director of Operations is responsible for supporting schools, the Office of the Superintendent, and the Diocese of Bridgeport in its mission. The Director of Operations position focuses on areas that relate to Catholic school operations, and these schools are conducted by the Roman Catholic Church for the express purpose of education in the academic, social, moral and religious values promulgated by the Church.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
· Recognizes and supports the unique mission of Catholic schools by speaking, writing, and acting consistent with the teachings of the Catholic Church.
· Reviews and helps to enforce school and diocesan policies and ensures the alignment between the two.
· Maintains all school-wide data systems and provides weekly/monthly reports on finance and enrollment as requested.
· Maintains student records and assists with records requests.
· Supports Superintendent in the management of departmental budget.
· Reviews all contracts between schools and vendors to ensure suitability.
· Maintains adherence to rules and regulations as they pertain to AHERA/Hazardous Waste Disposal and oversees schools in this area.
· Provides guidance to schools during facility improvements and repairs.
· Performs safety walkthroughs of schools to assess school security protocols and equipment.
· Holds responsibility as PDSO (principal designated school official) for international students, issues I-20’s, maintains SEVIS (Student and Exchange Visitor Information System).
· Serves as diocesan liaison for Title/IDEA funding with public school districts.
· Researches and provides guidance on legislative issues that may affect our schools and students.
· Researches and provides guidance on government grants and funding opportunities.
· At all times demonstrates professional responsibility in supporting diocesan and school policies and regulations.
· Maintains confidentiality of information, displays sound judgment in professional dress and general behavior.
· Performs other tasks as assigned by the Superintendent of Schools and/or his/her delegate.
EXPERIENCE, EDUCATION AND QUALIFICATIONS
· Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university in a related field or equivalent experience.
· Three to five years previous experience performing related duties; prior experience working in a school setting preferred.
· Excellent communications skills in all forms including written, verbal, public speaking and presentations.
· Excellent human relations and interpersonal skills.
· Self-starter and well- organized as well as a team player.
· Be available for evening and weekend meetings, as necessary.
· Be able to manage multiple tasks simultaneously and accurately.
· Proficient in the use of computer technology including Microsoft Office (highly proficient in Excel) and related technology.
· Significant experience with Web-based applications (e.g. Google, Zoom, etc.), using the internet for research and learning new local and web-based computer applications (i.e., Student Information System, FACTS Tuition Management, etc.).
· Must demonstrate understanding, respect and support for Catholic Church teaching, mission and values, the critical role Catholic schools play in the evangelizing mission of the Church, and the value the schools provide to families.
· Practicing Roman Catholic in good standing and possessing strong Catholic faith and morals.
· Current driver’s license.
Physical/Mental Requirements: Requires coordination and manual dexterity, normal mental and visual ability; ability to lift as required in a normal office and school building environments.
Required Activities: Walking, sitting standing, bending, reaching, talking, handling, hearing, carrying, keyboarding, etc.
Travel Requirements: Travels to the office, school buildings and/or professional meetings as required.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $1.00 - $2.00 per year
