Transportation- Drivers
As a Dippin’ Dot, LLC driver there are certain responsibilities that are required. Each of those will help in safety, customer’s satisfaction, information flow, and the assurance that the truck and trailer are in top operating condition.
Performs any and all duties reasonably necessary to complete the tasks assigned.
· Pre employment and periodic drug and alcohol screening.
· Maintain accurate driver records and forward to the appropriate staff, to include:
Log books/VIR forms
Expense reports.
Credit card/petty cash receipts.
Mileage pay forms
Returned equipment form
· Be aware of and comply with all DDL requirements, and the state, federal and local law enforcement agency, DOT, etc. rules and regulations.
· Perform Pre-Trip inspection, checking the vehicle, Load security, and paperwork, make sure your telephone is working.
· During trips:
Re-examine the security of your load after 25 miles of travel.
Re-examine your load again when you make a change of duty; or after three (3) hours; or after 150 miles, which ever comes first (flag in your log book).
Each time you stop for a fuel: check the engine oil level; tires; the temperature of the trailer wheel bearings; lights.
Perform pre trip and post trip inspection inspections, shown as not driving on line 4 of your logs.
Make two (2) check calls each day that you are out; the first should be made between 8:00 a.m. and 10:00 a.m.; the second should be made between 3:00 p.m. and 5:00 p.m.
The first check call should include:
1) Your location
2) The number of hours that you logged the previous day
3) The number of hours that you have available to work on that day.
· When delivering equipment, assure the accuracy of the equipment to deliver, checking serial numbers-customer name, address etc.
· When delivering product, check the count and condition of product you are delivering, noting any discrepancies on the bills.
· If picking up equipment check for accuracy of equipment pick up request, check equipment serial numbers noting any changes; note the condition of equipment, etc. If there is any discrepancy in the equipment available for pickup, contact the customer service representative assigned to the location to confirm, and then call in to the Transportation Dispatch Coordinator to notify of the change. In the event that the RM and/or DM cannot be reached, contact the Transportation Fleet Manager, Equipment Supply Manager or Equipment Order Group
· Comply with all rules and instructions from the Transportation Fleet Manager.
· Maintain current driver license, DOT physical, drug screenings, etc.
· Be polite and considerate to the customer in all circumstances.
· Ability to work as a team in a team environment, and promote teamwork in the department.
· Comply with the policies and procedures outlined in the employee manual.
