Cargo Claims Manager

Job Summary Primarily responsible for overseeing the freight claims administration process across the entire brokerage operation. This person should be knowledgeable of the industry, highly motivated, urgency driven and have superior communication skills to succeed at this position. Essential Duties and Responsibilities • Filing freight claims with carrier insurance companies • Conducting thorough claims investigations • Continuously updating brokers and customers on the status of open claims • Collection, review, and filing of all necessary documents • Serve as a Subject Matter Expert and provide guidance during potential claim situations • Monitoring and updating internal claim files • Ensure claims are progressing at an acceptable pace, escalating when necessary • Negotiating with claimants and carriers to bring open claims to final resolution Job Requirements Education/Experience • BA or BS degree or equivalent experience required. • Minimum one year of freight claims management • High attention to detail • Deep understanding of the freight industry • Excellent organizational skills • Ability to prioritize, work independently, and meet deadlines Skills Required • Qualified candidate must possess excellent written and verbal communication skills along with relationship-building, follow-up, and problem-solving skills. • Candidate must have the ability to work in a fast-paced team environment. • Must be able to work with others along with working independently. Must be detail-oriented and must meet scheduled deadlines. • Ability to multi-task in completing scheduled activities along with additional activities. Ability to manage communication in a positive manner. • Punctuality and a good work ethic are critical.
