Production Supervisor

Direct Pack East, Rockingham NC is recruiting a full-time Production Shift Supervisor, working a 12-hour (6:00-6:00), 2-2-3 manufacturing schedule. We are a leader in manufacturing sustainable, customized thermoformed packaging for food applications, and are seeking team leaders with the ability to manage and lead a growing team.

The Production Shift Supervisor is responsible for the manner in which the plant functions and is responsible for overseeing the film extrusion and thermoforming production activities revolving around packaging operations. The environment is one of industrial applications within the plastics industry. This includes, but is not limited to, following safety requirements, adhering to customer quality requirements, and managing all resources to meet production metrics. The Production Shift Supervisor ensures that products produced adheres to all standards, specifications, and requirements set forth by the company and the customer.

Position Responsibilities:

• Uphold company safety and break policies to ensure all employees work in a safe manner, follow directions, and wear company issued Personal Protective Equipment (PPE). Immediately stop any unsafe activity, assess all accidents, and report to Production Manager.
• Oversee extrusion and thermoforming operation to ensure product quality and productivity meets specifications
• Train, coach, and provide guidance to shift team to enhance team development of operators and packers
• Communicate staffing needs to ensure all positions are filled by utilizing daily roster and headcount
• Conduct daily meetings informing team members of safety topics, production priorities, and product issues.
• Monitor staff performance
• Provide additional “one on one” training as needed
• Conduct random inspections of product
• Work closely with QC staff to ensure product quality
• Respond to staff issues promptly involving Senior Management
• Accurately complete required reports
• Ensure at all times that the plant is maintained in a clean orderly manner
• Attend shift meetings and work station information exchanges
• Ensure compliance with all policies and procedures

Competencies:

• Supervisory experience in a manufacturing setting is required
• Demonstrate leadership on a manufacturing floor
• Ability to work in a group environment, give instructions, lead and train others as needed.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced, high-speed environment, follow standardized work and adhere to safe work practices in a continuous improvement environment
• Sharp attention to detail
• Ability to work efficiently and lead team members with minimal supervision
• Understands the need for integrity and demonstrates awareness of ethical implications in all situations

Physical Work Requirements:

• Ability to safely and successfully perform the essential job functions, including meeting qualitative and/or quantitative productivity standards.
• Ability to withstand hot/cold temperatures in the Warehouse (site may not be temperature-controlled)
• Ability to conduct repetitive physical and mental tasks
• Flexible to work shifts, overtime and weekends as required
• Possess physical strength and stamina required to stand, walk, and lift for long period of time
• Ability to stand for long hours at a time
• Wear safety attire or protective gear on a daily basis
• Exposer to loud sounds and distracting noise levels
• May share work space with others
