What are the responsibilities and job description for the Legal Assistant/Paralegal position at Direct Personnel?
Our client, a law firm in Lewiston, is looking for a Legal Assistant to assist their attorneys with a wide range of projects including UCC financing statements, retrieval, review of UCC searches, due diligence, and post-closing preparations of closing documents. The right candidate would have 3-8 years of transactional experience and/or project finance experience preferably. Must have excellent academic credentials and good computer skills. Real estate, title or special district experience are highly preferred. This position is Monday-Friday 8am-5pm with a rate of $20-$25/hr. depending on experience.
Job Duties Include:
· Value assets (date of death and alternate valuation date)
· Collect information and/or assets for preparation of inventory and tax returns
· Order public records including birth, death, and marriage certificates
· Answer questions from personal representative, surviving spouse and other interested parties
· Prepare and transmit necessary papers to transfer/liquidate assets including stock, real estate, and motor vehicles
· Draft agreements, court documents, federal and state tax returns for conservatorship, inventory and accountings for conservatorship, distribution schedule and closing documents, tax returns for non-probate estate, wills, codicils, trust agreements and amendments, documents necessary to fund trusts, petitions, and orders for partial distribution
