The Media Processing & Distribution group is hiring a talented Senior Software Engineer to support the growing Content Distribution & Origin (CDO) Engineering team. The Media Distribution group within Disney's Media Engineering organization is responsible for the development, support, and management of the content delivery pipeline from the origin to the end-user.
The Content Distribution & Origin Team:
We are caching infrastructure professionals who employ best-practices to develop scalable caching solutions. We're responsible for the development and operational efficiency of Disney's owned and operated Origin, Midtier, and Edge appliances, which serve content for Disney , Hulu, ESPN , and Star .

The hiring range for this position in Seattle and New York City is $142,600 - $191,100 per year and in Santa Monica and Glendale, California is $136,100 - $182,400 per year and in San Fransico, California is $149,000 - $199,800 per year. The base pay actually offered will take into account internal equity and also may vary depending on the candidate's geographic region, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience among other factors. A bonus and/or long-term incentive units may be provided as part of the compensation package, in addition to the full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits, dependent on the level and position offered.

Responsibilities:
- Lead a significant part of the implementation and testing of caching software for delivering streaming media and API responses.
- Automate CICD and test pipelines to ensure high quality streaming experiences and low defect rates.
- Create and manage mechanisms to collect metrics and synthesize meaningful insights with that data.
- Develop your technical understanding to support and build your career.
Basic Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Software, Electrical or Electronics Engineering, or comparable field of study, and / or equivalent work experience
- 5 years of software development experience.
- Systems programming experience in C or C and Python
- Experience with automated testing frameworks (e.g. pytest)
- A strong foundation in system design
- Proven experience building highly performant, stable systems at global scale
- Knowledge of HTTP, caching, and Linux networking protocols
Preferred Qualifications:
- Prior experience with Varnish Cache and VCL
- Familiarity with Linux and Posix APIs
- Knowledge of video streaming / HLS
