The Director, Franchise Strategy serves as a key partner to executive leaders, content partners, commercial leads and Franchise teams throughout Disney Parks, Experiences and Products (DPEP) and The Walt Disney Company (TWDC). This role is an integral member of the DPEP Marketing organization and reports to the Senior Vice President, DPEP Consumer Franchise Strategy/CPGP Mktg.

Responsibilities :
The Director of Franchise Strategy will:
  • Be responsible for creating consumer and commercial strategies and plans, working in partnership with our global segment commercial partners, WDI, CIMA and finance partners along with the Studio and Corporate franchise teams, that deliver a higher return and customer lifetime value for the segment, with immediate focus on our Disney Princess, Frozen, Disney Live Action and 100th Anniversary, Star Wars, Marvel, 20CF and NATGEO consumer franchise strategies.
  • Chart new course for franchise team, moving from siloed to unified segment planning based on consumer insights. Assess business opportunities and create a tool kit that the teams can implement to realize value and evolve the entire organization to a commercial mindset.
  • Assume leadership and project management responsibilities for the Franchise Operations team by providing day to day leadership and dedicated understanding of their operations to drive process improvement, innovation and development of the team.
Consumer Franchise Strategy Business Priorities:
  • Create holistic, diverse and inclusive, data-driven, globally-applicable DPEP consumer franchise strategies to drive long term growth, relevancy and commercial value across the DPEP segment. (e.g. portfolio gap, audience growth, franchise reposition, sustainment)
  • Develop Franchise DNA and cross-segment franchise plans, in partnership with commercial business teams, to amplify engagement and demand for our key franchises across our parks, experiences and product areas. (e.g. multi-year go-to-market plans for top and emerging franchises)
  • Leverage consumer, business and financial insights, partnering with the businesses, CIMA, CE and Finance teams, to create tools and processes that enable short and long term strategic business planning

Basic Qualifications :
  • 10 years progressive leadership experience in Marketing, Brand Management, or related field
  • Combination of consumer products, licensing, interactive, digital media and/or entertainment experience; emphasis on managing licensing, production, marketing and business development
  • Demonstrated excellent leadership skills with the ability to turn vision into action, motivate others to achieve goals and follow through on decisions
  • Demonstrated inclusive and collaborative leadership that embraces diversity
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively build partnerships and influence stakeholders and decision making at all levels of the organization
  • Excellent strategic and creative thinking skills
  • Demonstrated project management skills and the proven ability to manage multiple sensitive projects with competing demands and resources
  • Superior communication skills with the ability to interact cross functionally with all levels in the organization
  • Demonstrated experience effectively presenting to senior executives and large groups
  • Flexible and adaptable to changing priorities in a fast paced environment
  • Demonstrated high level of corporate professionalism, maturity and political savvy

Required Education :
  • Bachelor’s Degree

Preferred Education :
  • MBA with a focus on Strategy or Marketing
