Located in Itasca, IL, the ideal candidate for the Payroll Specialist role will have experience working at a fast-growing company and can handle the challenges of onboarding a growing number of employees. They will be accustomed to the fast-paced and deadline driven nature of payroll and will be comfortable working independently. In addition, a self‐starter, can prioritize, and be a part of collaborative team.
Roles and Responsibilities
- Process bi-weekly and weekly payroll for salary and union employees
- Enter and maintain various information in Paylocity, which may include employee hourly rates, salaries, union codes and rates, commission, bonus or other compensation, expense reimbursement, various deductions, and other information
- Process garnishments and wage assignments
- Review employee data for accuracy, which will include new hire information and benefit deductions
- Verifies hours worked, paid time off, etc. via Paylocity Time and Labor
- Entering of installer hours into IFS (ERP system) for multiple companies
- Generate payroll reports for divisions
- Prepare union and certified payroll reports in a timely manner
- Prepare documentation for union audits
- Assist human resources in onboarding union new hires
- Work with leadership team on ad‐hoc projects as assigned
- Respond to payroll questions
- Back up team members, when needed
Qualifications and Education Requirements
- 4 years of payroll experience including preparation and knowledge of large payroll system, Paylocity preferred
- 4 years of experience with multi-state union payroll, union reports and certified payroll, required
- Prior experience processing payroll for a large national organization, is preferred OR processing payroll for 500 employees
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Excel is required
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
- Exceptional communication (verbal and written) & interpersonal skills
- Self-motivated, goal-oriented, and can work in a fast-paced environment
- Critical thinker, flexible, thinks outside of the box
- Understanding of labor hours job costing a plus
