Divinity Prophet and Associates is a 501(c) (3) organization that has been serving the community in a variety of capacities since 2009. At Divinity Prophet we are committed to meeting the needs of youth, individuals and families in the communities we serve. Divinity Prophet has been afforded the opportunity to work with the County of Los Angeles- Public Health Department to provide: community outreach and engagement, multi-stakeholder collaboration, community-based communication strategies and meeting facilitation services for a newly formed violence prevention collaborative.
We are seeking a Community Engagement Coordinator to oversee community engagement activities for the Regional Violence Prevention Coalition (RVPC) of Service Planning Area 4.
The Community Engagement Coordinator is primarily responsible for outreach engagement, planning, implementing, and managing community events of various sizes to hold discussions on community needs, share pertinent information with community stakeholders, and/or obtain input on the County's proposed policies.
Job Objectives and Responsibilities include:
- Coordinate and serve as a liaison between Public Health and Divinity Prophet
- Prepare required administrative reports, invoices, and documents
- Ensure Work Order deliverables are met according to defined/expected
timeline(s)
- Travel throughout the County when necessary to direct the delivery of services
via personal or company transportation
- Respond to requests to meet, address, and resolve performance issues, and be
available to attend such meetings as mutually scheduled
- Manage multiple stakeholder collaborations
- Assist in convening a Regional Violence Prevention Coalition
- Assist in development and execution of Community Outreach and Engagement
Plan
- Record routine Coalition communications
- Create, implement, and monitor progress of Community Action Plan including, but
not limited to: identifying three key priority initiatives with measurable outcomes;
establishing one or more goals defining overarching outcome sought for each
selected initiative; action steps required to accomplish objectives
- Facilitate Coalition meetings
- Create community-based communication strategies
- Identify community gaps, needs, and resources in order to address issues on
Violence Prevention Action Plan
- Participate in and prepare for weekly, monthly, and quarterly meetings as
necessary
- Submit meeting agenda, sign-in sheets, coalition charter, and monthly meeting
notes
- Maintain documentation of parent and youth participants, process for identifying
participants, stipend agreement, and verification of payment
- Identify steering committee or meeting co-chairs
- Plan and manage meeting logistics for all in-person or virtual meetings
- Facilitate group discussion and shared decision-making processes
- Assist in disseminating information regarding training opportunities, violence
prevention data, county resources, and OVP events
- Other duties as assigned
Qualifications:
- A Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in the social or behavioral sciences, public health, criminal justice, or a closely related field
Preferable Qualifications:
- · Two (2) years of experience within the last five (5) years in the fields of public health, public policy and/or community organizing/advocacy with a minimum of one year of experience developing and implementing community engagement programs for violence prevention activities
- · Located in Los Angeles County
- · Have the use of a computer, laptop or tablet, cell phone and the ability to access the Internet
- · Possess personal qualities of integrity and a strong commitment and passion for Divinity Prophet’s mission and goals
- · Proficient in using technology as a management reporting tool
- · Be able to read, write, speak, and understand English in order to conduct business with the County
