SITE HIGHLIGHT: Providing security at various educational institutions in the Jackson area.
LOCATION: Jackson, MI
TITLE: Armed Security Officer
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES: As an Armed Security Officer at DK Security, your duties may vary depending on the site you are working. School Security Specialists will focus on building positive relationships with teachers, students, and parents to aid in the effort to give all children a safe environment for learning and growth opportunities. School Security Specialists will need to have excellent communication, mediating skills, and some experience with special needs children.
Additional responsibilities may include:
- Access Control - Ensure only authorized individuals are allowed access to the site and ensuring vehicles leaving facilities are not leaving with unauthorized goods and materials.
- Foot and Mobile Patrol - Walk the interior and exterior of the various buildings on site, keeping an eye out for security, safety, or maintenance issues. Some of the campuses require driving a vehicle to patrol sections of that site.
- Monitor Parking Areas- Traffic Control for key pick up and drop off times
- Event Security - Provide a safe environment for after school athletic events and meetings.
- Customer Service - Hospitality and relationship building skills are paramount to this position.
- Emergency Response - Able to respond to any emergency situation on the campuses providing first aid or other medical treatment in emergency situations. Facilitate for First Responders, crime/fire/medical, with emergency situations that may occur on site.
- Camera Monitoring – Monitor surroundings on closed-circuit television, allow/deny site access with remote access control.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Must be at least 21 years of age or older.
- Must be a current holder of a valid, unexpired Michigan CPL.
- Must have prior armed experience in either security, law enforcement, or military roles.
- Must have either a high school diploma or GED equivalent.
- Must be of good moral character and have the ability to pass a criminal background check, with no felony convictions, and no misdemeanor convictions for criminal sexual conduct or related offenses, theft, assault, illegal substances, multiple alcohol related offenses, or crimes of moral turpitude, is required.
- Must be able to pass a psychological evaluation.
- Must be able to successfully pass a drug test at the time of hire and annually thereafter.
- Must present a friendly, positive, professional image, adhering to our Appearance and Grooming policy.
- Must possess excellent verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills.
- Must be able to read and write in the English language and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating procedures, maintenance instructions and reports.
- Intermediate computer skills required – Comfortable with Microsoft Office, Email, Internet, and able to learn new software
- Driving Qualifications - Must have a clean driving record with less than 3 moving violations in the last 3 years, less than 2 at-fault accidents in the last 3 years, and no other major violations in the last 3 years.
- Physical Requirements:
- Must be physically and mentally sound
- Must be able to use hands and fingers to handle or feel objects, tools, or controls
- Must be able to reach with hands and arms, and to hold objects
- Must be able to sit, stand, or walk for 8-12 hour shifts, including walking long distances, and possibly up and down stairs
- Must be readily able to respond to emergency situations
- Must be able to work in or outdoors during all seasons
- Must be able to hear conversations (in person or via 2-way radio) in noisy environments.
- Must be able to occasionally lift up to 70 pounds
