What are the responsibilities and job description for the Accountant position at DMSi Software?
The Accountant prepares and analyzes general ledger accounts, account/project billings, and financial statements., They will also prepare and process accounts receivable, accounts payable and prepare reconciliations. A significant component of the Accountant’s role will be responsible for the billing process of key customer accounts throughout our suite of software products. Members of the accounting team work together to assist each other as needed.
RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:
- Under limited supervision, and on own initiative, performs a variety of routine accounting functions in accordance with standard procedures.
- Ability to understand the billing process for various software components.
- Utilize DMSi’s data management/customer database software.
- Reconciliation of general ledger accounts and discrepancy resolution.
- Provides financial information to management by researching/analyzing accounting data and preparing reports.
- Prepares asset, liability, and equity account entries by compiling and analyzing account information, as requested.
- Analyzes and processes project and account billings.
- Processes account payments, which include electronic payments, by verifying documentation and requesting disbursements.
- Maintains accounting controls by preparing and recommending policies and procedures.
- Collaborates with other departments to complete accounting functions.
- Makes independent decisions regarding planning, organizing, and scheduling work.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Business Administration, Finance, or equivalent work experience
Two years of accounting
Strong experience in Excel
WORK ENVIRONMENT AND PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
Normal office environment with use of computers and telephone systems; no unusual physical demands
