CANDIDATE MUST HAVE EXPERIENCE MANAGING A NETWORK TEAM. IF THEY HAVE NOT MANAGED A TEAM, THEY WILL NOT BE CONSIDERED FOR THE POSITION!
Any combination of education and experience equivalent to a Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related field, and 5 to 7 years of experience in networking and system administration. Requires extensive experience and knowledge of Microsoft Windows environments, Cisco, local and wide area networks, and security. Prior management experience required.
Working experience L and thorough understanding of SANs, backup systems and disaster recovery, and emergency preparedness strongly desired.
Network certifications in Cisco (CCNA or CCNP) and Microsoft Windows Server preferred.
Thorough knowledge of network operations (LAN, WAN SAN, network attached devices, etc.);
Ability to manage, direct, motivate, and build a cohesive network team;
Ability to manage staff in a collaborative environment, following Stafford County values;
Ability to evaluate staff performance, develop, and recommend training;
Demonstrate an ability to communicate effectively both vocally and in writing and to follow vocal and written instructions;
Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with coworkers, superiors, other departments, outside agencies, and vendors;
Ability and willingness to effectively work as part of a team and to demonstrate team skills to perform a fair share of team work responsibilities.
Manages the Network section staff;
Manages the network infrastructure including the Local Area Network (LAN) and Wide Area Network (WAN);
Maintains all of the County's systems servers;
Works with the cyber security team to maintain a secure network environment;
Administers, maintains, and upgrades all of the County's servers;
Maintains a secure network environment;
Maintains all connectivity devices on the LAN and WAN, including hubs, switches, routers and cabling;
Administers and maintains County's server infrastructure, storage area networks (SANs), backup systems, and data recovery;
Maintains County's email servers, email archive systems, and web servers;
Works with State agencies and other jurisdictions to connect to the County's network;
Implements network policies, procedures, and standards;
Identifies, analyzes, and purchases new equipment related to keeping the network, servers, and storage innovative;
Helps develop the budget and capital expenditure plans for IT, and works with leadership to
strategically plan multi-year budgets and hardware and software refreshes;
Oversees contracts for network managed services and for professional services;
Helps support video production of County meetings;
Keeps abreast of developments in PC/Networking, cyber security, and general IT;
Monitors and ensures help desk tickets are responded to on a timely basis including for staff they supervise;
Performs capacity and resource planning, assessing network risks and contingency planning;
Maintains County Disaster Recovery Plan and Continuity Plan, and coordinates plans with cyber security team;
Serves the needs of internal and external customers
