Local Unit & Position Description
DNV – Energy Systems Energy Management group is seeking a Head of Section to join our DTE Energy team to lead the programs DNV implements for DTE Energy. The ideal candidate for this position will be an experienced leader in energy efficiency programs.
This position will be based in our DNV office in Detroit, Michigan.
What You’ll Do
- Work closely with utility clients to roll out and execute energy programs for commercial and industrial utility customersHire, train, and supervise administrative, engineering, and outreach/marketing staff to meet energy savings goals within budget
- Manage a group of sub-contractors based on defined scopes and expectations
- Develop and implement an operations strategy that will meet utility-defined performance, financial, and energy efficiency savings goals
- Monitor program results, including energy savings and quality assurance, and develop recommendations to improve the program under ISO 9001 standards continuously
- Presentations to a variety of stakeholders, including utility customers, trade allies, and utility management, on program status and/or energy-efficient technologies and utility incentives for these technologies
- Preparation of written reports to utility client
- The ability to find innovative ways to resolve problems
Position Qualifications
What is Required
- Bachelor’s Degree: business, engineering, or technical discipline preferred
- Minimum of 4 years of operational, staff management, or project management experience in a technical environment, preferably in a regulated industry (government and/or utility)
- Solid understanding of Lead Management (CRM) tools and processes
- Knowledge of operational process workflows and management through operational metrics
- Intermediate Excel skills including, pivot tables, simple lookups, and graphing
- Intermediate MS Word skills, including working with document templates
- Intermediate MS PowerPoint skills
- Ability to work positively with a wide range of individuals involved in program management
- Demonstrated success in delivering complex programs within budget
- Willingness and ability to travel, up to 10% of the time
- Strong communication skills as demonstrated by experience with presentations, papers, or other public forums; strong report-writing skills
- We conduct pre-employment drug and background screening
What is Preferred
- An energy efficiency background with a solid knowledge of energy-efficient technologies and practices is strongly preferred
- Technical Competencies
- Knowledge of commercial HVAC, commercial kitchen, and various lighting technologies
- General Competencies
- Provide leadership through setting goals, delegating to utilize employee strength, coaching, and fostering teamwork.
- Ensure field staff meets program, quality, and services standards, implementing training plans or other measures to ensure that staff is equipped to deliver expected results to our customers.
- Communicate with impact, authenticity, and empathy
- Proactive in customer follow-up and communications
- Entrepreneurial, sales professional – self-starter and strong time management skills
- Able to work under tight deadlines
- Provide logistical support for marketing/sales meetings and events
- Provide resources and support for Trade Allies, contractors, and customers
- Explain technical information to non-technical audiences
