We are currently seeking to employ a qualified candidate for the position of Intern Solar Engineer (or the “Candidate”) for Technical Services under Renewables, Energy Systems to be based in Cape Town, South Africa.
As part of DNV’s Solar MEA Team and Solar and Storage Section in the SEMELA region, the Candidate will work along with other technical professionals in the Energy Systems group to provide technical consulting services and support business development activities. The Candidate will have the opportunity to learn technical aspects of the solar PV plants by being involved in some projects. The role also has elements of business development, marketing and sales supporting responsibilities. This includes working cohesively within the department to support proposal preparation. Intern is also expected to support formatting word documents and prepare power points / presentations.
This role, reporting to the Solar Team Lead Middle East & Africa in Dubai will focus on supporting our technical team in delivering our services to our existing customers and supporting bid managers preparing proposals in the Sub-Saharan African region.

Position Qualifications
- Master / Bachelor’s in Electrical, Mechanical, Mathematical, Civil Engineering or equivalent from a recognized university.
- Related work experience or interest in renewables, power generation, power system design, or related field with a primarily electrical or civil engineering capacity will be an advantage.
- Excellent command of the English language. French and Spanish languages are an advantage
- Good quantitative and analytical skills.
- Good command of verbal and written communication skills, good presentation skills, a positive attitude, an open mindset and a team-oriented individual.
