Job Posting for Educational Specialist (A/B) at DOC-Central Facility Account
Work with the Deputy Director of the Division of Inmate Training and Education to develop, refine, and manage the division’s data analysis efforts.
Serve as the primary person to collect and report educational, programmatic, and operational data.
Utilize IMS and related back-end software tools to extract needed data.
Run and distribute reports as dictated by the division Data Reporting Plan.
Assist all members of the division leadership team in accessing data needed for a variety of reasons and projects.
Work with the Deputy Director in writing data analysis summary reports that will be shared with Executive Staff in the Department of Correction.
Work with the Virtual Education Team on collecting and reporting virtual education data.
Act as division lead on the use of IMS and offer trainings to both large groups and individuals through on-site visits to the schools within the division.
Complete required 40 hours of training within the fiscal year.
Maintain a record of professional development and DOC trainings attended.
Update SSTA timecard promptly to ensure that payroll is processed accurately.
Illustrate an understanding of current educational practices.
Implement current, research-based educational practices in the collection, reporting, and analysis of data.
Demonstrate a comprehensive and current knowledge of DOC policies and procedures.
Complete duties as assigned that support the Division’s mission.
Engage in Division priorities to enhance the progression of strategic goals.
Collaborate with other professionals, both inside and outside of the Division of Inmate Training and Education, to contribute to the goals of the Division.
Interact with staff in a professional manner, utilizing appropriate boundaries.
Interact and communicate with inmates in professional manner while utilizing appropriate boundaries.
Report any and all security related concerns to your supervisor promptly.
Maintain appropriate boundaries with staff at all times.
Maintain a safe, secure and clean working area.
Applicants should have a Bachelor's Degree in data management, education or a related field and knowledge of principles, practices and methods in education and the function of data analysis. Strong analytical, verbal, and written communication skills. Proficiency in Microsoft Suite products and two or three years of related experience. Possess the attitude, temperament, and ability to work in a correctional setting.
This is a Civil Service position. Minimum Entrance Requirements:
Applicants must have at least (A) two years of full-time, or equivalent part-time, professional experience in teaching, educational administration, educational counseling or educational guidance, or (B) any equivalent combination of the required experience and the substitutions below.
I. A Bachelor's or higher degree with a major in education or special education, educational administration or educational counseling may be substituted for the required experience.*
Education toward such a degree will be prorated on the basis of the proportion of the requirements actually completed.
Special Requirements: Based on assignment, possession of a current and valid Massachusetts Motor Vehicle Operator's License or the equivalent from another state may be required.
