INTERN, Data Scientist

POSITION SUMMARY:

As a health information software development and systems integration company, DSS, Inc.  is currently in need of a Data Science Intern to join our innovations/analytics team. This is the perfect opportunity for an experienced candidate to gain experience as part of an innovative team that develops analytics tools for health information software which can have a positive impact on our clients and the patients they serve.  

Essential Duties:

• Data formatting and assessing the effectiveness and accuracy of new data sources and data gathering techniques.
• Maintaining Analytics Dashboards.
• Training algorithms and running simulations.
• Collaborating to understand company needs and devise possible solutions within our products.

Other Duties:

• Working and collaborating with a wide range of stakeholders and functional teams.
• Experience using a variety of data mining/data analysis methods and tools.
• Keeping up to date and knowledgeable about emerging technology trends.

Qualifications

QUALIFICATIONS:

Skills:

• Required:
• Experience using statistical computer languages (R, Python, SQL, etc.) to manipulate data and draw insights from data sets.
• Experience in database programming, data mining, statistical analysis and reporting technologies. Able to understand various data structures and common methods in data transformation.
• Strong pattern recognition and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills for coordinating across teams.
• A drive to learn and master new technologies and techniques.

Education:

• Required:

• Enrolled in a Master’s or PhD degree program in Statistics, Mathematics, Computer Science or another quantitative field with a GPA of 3.5 or better
• Seniors with a major in Computer Science, Mathematics, or Statistics or related field with a GPA of 3.5 or better planning on pursing a Master’s degree in the fall of 2023.
