What you'll do
DocuSign, Inc., the global leader in developing the next generation Agreement Cloud, is seeking an experienced and enthusiastic intern to work with its in-house legal team. The intern will have exposure to attorneys and projects in each of the major practice areas of the legal department.
Projects relating to Product, Marketing, IP, Data and Privacy will include fundamental issues relating to foundational topics such as e-signature legality, artificial intelligence, contract lifecycle management, standard practices in legal tech and operations, marketing and public relations topics, product and public sector compliance issues, and cutting-edge intellectual property, data governance, and privacy and information security issues. Intern also will have opportunities to do technology-related transactional work.
Projects relating to Corporate, securities, employment and litigation will include securities regulation, SEC filings, ’33/’34 Act matters, corporate development (M&A, investments), employment law and compliance matters.
Projects relating to Global commercial contracts will include research, contributing to forms development, playbooks and process improvements, and opportunities to participate in a range of SaaS software contract negotiations.
We are a highly collaborative legal team, so this individual will have the opportunity to work on a variety of projects across functional areas, with an opportunity to tailor the experience to align with the intern’s interests, skills and background.
This paid internship is for Summer 2024.
This position is an Individual Contributor reporting to Deputy General Counsel, Growth & Innovation.

Job Designation
Hybrid: Employee divides their time between in-office and remote work. Access to an office location is required. (Frequency: Minimum 2 days per week; may vary by team but will be weekly in-office expectation)

What you bring
Basic
- Candidate must be a full-time law student at an ABA-accredited law school
- This role is not eligible for CPT, OPT or sponsorship now or in the future
Preferred
- Talent for thinking outside of the box in researching legal issues
- Experience in the tech industry or previous experience in a corporate legal department
- Able to balance multiple projects in a fast-paced environment
- Project management skills
- Interest and willingness to adopt new technologies to help further operationalize team processes
- Passion for tackling issues of first impression and/or foundational legal issues
Wage Transparency
Based on applicable legislation, the below details pay ranges in the following locations:
California: $36/hour - $43/hour
Illinois and Colorado: $34/hour - $35/hour
Washington and New York (including NYC metro area): $34/hour - $38/hour
