Job Description
The Dodge City Family YMCA is looking for a new leader to join the team and support the work of the Y, a leading nonprofit committed to strengthening community through youth development, healthy living and social responsibility. The Sports Director will lead the development of and implementation of high-quality youth sports programs. The ideal candidate must have a demonstrated track record of delivering high-quality youth programs, combined with the ability to manage the administrative components of a youth sports program. Strong organizational and time management skills are necessary to ensure that the participants and families have a high-quality experience at the Y. Responsibilities include supervision and training of the program staff along with new and innovative ideas to grow and expand existing programs. The director will need to be available to work weekends, as this is when many of the games take place.
Qualifications
Ø A Bachelor's Degree in Recreation Management, Physical Education or a related field is preferred but not necessary. At least two years of training or experience is needed if no degree.
Ø Certifications in athletic training, youth sports coaching, officiating and any other related fields is helpful but not necessary.
Ø Ability to meet requirements of YMCA of the USA for Team Leader.
Ø Must be current in CPR and First Aid certifications.
Ø Current driver’s license with acceptable record and vehicle liability insurance.
Ø Must possess a cooperative spirit committed to character development by promoting and demonstrating caring, honesty, respect and responsibility to staff, lay leaders, YMCA members, program participants and general public.
Ø Personality traits must include honestly, friendliness, dependability, self-initiative and respect for personal and property rights.
Ø Ability to communicate well with staff, volunteers and program participants.
Ø Physically able to move freely throughout the facility and other program sites and to lift 50 pounds.
Ø Maturity, tactfulness and good judgement are needed to handle supervision problems.
Must be able to speak clearly and articulate accurate information.
Essential Functions
Ø Implement all department policies and procedures.
Ø Coordinates all Sports leagues, tournaments, programs and special events for youth and adults.
Ø Recruits, Trains, Supervises and Evaluates all officials and coaches for each program.
Ø Develops and maintains department budget and all other department financial reports including participation, volunteer and scholarship numbers.
Ø Recruit sponsors for Super Saturday tournaments, leagues and special events.
Ø Conduct quarterly meeting with your committee assignments.
Ø Implement and administer new programs.
Ø Commitment to the YMCA Core Values and Mission and Sports Pledge and incorporate into all programs.
Ø Participate in our membership process and all other membership campaigns, promos and special events for the Y.
Ø Inventory and Equipment Forecast for all Sports programs
Ø Work one lunch shift per week and one Director on Duty shift a week.
Ø Attend program director’s meetings quarterly and weekly staff meetings.
Any other work deemed necessary by the CEO or Director of Programs

Required Certifications
Bachelor Degree preferred but not required.
Mandatory First Aid and Safety within first 90 days.
Mandatory Child Abuse Prevention within first 90 days.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $35,600.00 - $41,500.00 per year
