Qualifications:
* Bachelor's degree in Communications, Journalism, Public Relations, Marketing or related field.
* Minimum of 7 years directing the communications of an organization including leading media and public relations and communications.
* Experience handling press conferences and crisis communication required.
o Experience in public relations with a financial institution is a plus.
* Excellent written and verbal communication skills with internal and external recipients across varied channels including news media outlets, social media, e-mail, etc.
* Effective strategic planning ability to include the execution of long- and short-term goals and demonstrated ability to drive organizational change efforts.
* Excellent organizational skills to prioritize tasks and effectively delegate resources and talent.
* Strong decision making and problem-solving skills to respond effectively in high pressure or crisis situations.
* Innovative and strategic thinking to identify novel ways to improve communication efforts and expand the Bank's influence, exposure, and reach.
* Strong interpersonal and relationship building skills to effectively represent the Bank's position on difficult and controversial issues with audiences such as the media, government officials or community partners.
* Strong executive presence and ability to deliver media coaching and training to senior leadership.

Principal Activities and Duties:
* Establish, implement, and direct- the Bank's public relations strategies including media relations, internal/external communications, and government affairs.
* Proactively source and manage media relations opportunities for Bank leadership including media announcements, requests for information, editorial placement, and speaking opportunities to maintain favorable public views of the organization's agenda and accomplishments.
* Identify opportunities and take action to build and maintain strategic relationships with media, legislators, consumers, community partners, employees, and public interest groups.
* Develop and manage internal communications plans, including delivery channels, to clearly communicate all relevant employee information to drive engagement in Bank initiatives.
* Evaluate and authorize all forms of external communication.
* Act as primary media/communications contact in headquarters market and collaborate and coach appropriate leadership contacts in additional Dollar Bank markets.
* Collaborate with internal teams (e.g. Marketing, Human Resources, Community Development) and coordinate cross functional communication efforts.
* Lead the Bank's legislative efforts building relationships with senators and congressman as well as state representatives. Work with bank trade organizations supporting positive banking legislative and regulatory positions.
* Coach client representatives in effective communication with the public and employees.
* Lead the Bank's charitable giving programs and initiatives including the United Way Campaign, Contributions Committee, and the Volunteer Program
* Chair the Bank's Political Action Committee (DOLPAC).
