Job Summary
The company is actively seeking United States military veterans and service members who meet the qualifications outlined below.
- Military service members and veterans with ranks from E3-E5, W1-W2, or O1-O3, plus appropriate equivalent combination of education and years of experience as outlined below.
Required Knowledge, Skills, Abilities & Experience
- 0-2 years’ experience in related field.
- Basic knowledge and skills in customer service and credit/collections
- Basic computer knowledge and skills, including Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook
- Ability to use hand tools such as a meter key and adjustable wrench
- Basic troubleshooting, problem-solving , and mathematical skills for reviewing customer accounts
- Basic ability to read maps and navigate in various territories, including a basic knowledge of the assigned area and surrounding towns
- Ability to retain knowledge of company’s credit policies and North Carolina Utilities Commission rules and regulations
- Basic verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills to communicate with customers in an effective and professional manner
- Ability to effectively read gas meters, and properly research and record meter and account information on a computer
- Ability to work independently and as part of a diverse team
- Ability to frequently travel to customers’ premises, where encounters with agitated customers or dogs and other animals may occur
- Ability to balance and prioritize workload based upon time of year

• Bilingual (Spanish) candidates
Education Requirements
Completion of high school or equivalent (i.e., GED) is required.
Licenses, Certifications, or Quals Description
Valid driver's license with safe driving record and at least 1 year of driving experience
Other Working Conditions
Work is both in an office environment and at customers' premises outside in varying weather conditions (i.e. heat, cold, rain).
Position requires the ability to squat multiple times daily for accessing gas meters.
Heavy lifting up to 75 lbs. independently.
