Production Supervisor

POSITION OVERVIEW

dormakaba is seeking a Production Supervisor to be a vital part of our business and future growth on our Mesker Operations Team in Huntsville, AL. This position is responsible for planning, directing, coaching and supervising production activities and employees in accordance with departmental policies, procedures, and standards to achieve established production schedules and desired quality levels.

PRIMARY DUTIES

• Maintains Operational Cadence daily standard work
• Builds team to achieve overall business targets
• Coaches and mentors future leaders
• Organizes and assigns work to utilize available skills, knowledge, experience, labor hours, machines and tooling to optimize cost, quality and workmanship.
• Provides regular training, instruction, and guidance. Maintains set-up procedures to prevent excessive downtime and interrupted schedules.
• Assures that the desired product quality levels are achieved through proper operator training with operations and inspections techniques, use of tools, and overall job responsibilities.
• Develops and implements methods and procedures to control and improve product quality.
• Prepares, maintains, and analyzes reports related to quality, efficiency, machine utilization, scrap, budget status, etc.
• Takes corrective action when necessary to improve the overall performance of his/her productions areas.
• Provides information and collaborate with other departments to assist with and/or implement programs related to work simplification, cost reduction, new methods, labor hour planning, scheduling, machine repairing and maintenance.
• Maintains appropriate levels of labor in accordance with skill requirements, work levels and schedules, labor hours and training programs. Maintains conformance with employee and safety rules and regulations, issue violation warnings and administer approved disciplinary measures when necessary.
• Participates in and coordinates internal programs, such as communications, vacation schedules, job analysis and evaluation, employee performance reviews, wage administration, etc.
• Consistently administers company policies and practices regarding attendance, performance, etc.
• Participates in activities such as training and safety programs in order to enhance the overall effectiveness of the work areas involved.
• Works with manufacturing engineers to resolve issues related to product quality design and defects.
• Supervises toolmakers, finishers, coaters, platers and other technical disciplines as well as other nonexempt positions as required.
• Performs duties and responsibilities as described in the quality system.
• Performs other duties as assigned by the manager to support departmental goals.

REQUIREMENTS

• High school diploma or equivalent
• 2-year degree helpful in either operations, engineering or business
• 3-5 years of work experience with 2 of those with supervisory/leadership responsibility preferred
• Proficiency in Lean Manufacturing
• Must have the ability to communicate effectively via telephone, multiple forms of electronic mediums, and within a group environment for business presentations
• Skills or experience with personal computers, including electronic E-mail, personal scheduling, Word processing and electronic spreadsheet skills.
• Working knowledge of SAP or ERP systems preferred
