The Doubletree by Hilton in South Portland Maine has an excellent opportunity for an experienced Sales Manager, focused on the SMERF Markets. As one of Portland’s largest event & banquet venues we host catered meals up to 400 people and large conventions for a variety of industries. The Sales Manager will focus on creating memorable moments for guests and planners. The perfect candidate will dig deep to find ways to create success for our team. The Sales Manager is responsible for maximizing SMERF market revenue while being mindful of profitability for the hotel. The Sales Manager will uncover new business opportunities, foster stellar client relationships and ensure the successful execution of events.
Responsibilities:
- Respond to all phone & electronic group opportunities within company standards
- Create proposals, contracts, and other documents as required while managing and maintaining account files in Delphi
- Manage events (receive rooming list, follow up with clients on deadlines, receive payments, detail food & beverage and meeting needs)
- Create group resumes and communicate clients' needs to all department heads to ensure hotel team follow-through
- Conduct market research (competitors’ strengths and weaknesses, economic trends, supply and demand, etc.)
- Use negotiating skills and creative selling abilities to close on business and negotiate contracts.
- Develop and maintain productive relationships with town officials and representatives of local community/chamber groups
Qualifications:
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Excellent customer service skills with vendors, clients, etc.
- Knowledge of Delphi and OnQ preferred
- Knowledge of Microsoft Office products; Excel, Word, and Outlook
- A good understanding of Sales and Conference Planning procedures
- Knowledge of a hotel structure and how all departments interact a plus
