JOB SUMMARY:
This position works under general engineering supervision and follows established procedures. Work is periodically monitored by the Engineering Manager or Engineer and reviewed upon completion for soundness of technical judgment, overall accuracy, and thoroughness in meeting project technical requirements. The Technician I may occasionally work with little or no supervision for extended periods. Is typically responsible for projects of a variety of scope and complexity within the company, which requires a high level of accuracy, accountability, and decision-making ability. Has frequent contact with other inter-organizational and outside customer contacts on routine technical issues. This position represents the organization in providing solutions to difficult technical problems associated with specific projects.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned:

- Formulate and document any technical changes, in their specific area of expertise, that are required at startup of the machines.
- Serve as the primary technical resource, in their specific area of expertise, during installation of equipment.
- Work within the guidelines of the ECR process to make sketches of parts as necessary and red lines to Engineering documents with approval on machines requiring this process.
- Assure that assigned machines are electrically or mechanically constructed to Douglas Machine Inc. specifications that the electrical or mechanical documentation is accurate and all machine functions have been thoroughly tested prior to shipment.
- Assist in creating engineering print packages, programs, motion controls and HMI functions.
- Provide phone support to the After Hours Phone Support Representative as needed.
- Recognize and correct machine timing.
- Travel as required.
- Offer constructive suggestions for the improvement of products, processes and procedures.
- Meet or improve upon schedule expectations for the assigned work.
- Maintain an orderly and clean work environment which includes carts, shop equipment and surrounding areas.
- Understand and comply with all safety policies and procedures.

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:
- A minimum of a two-year technical degree in a related field and four years’ experience or high school diploma/GED and eight years of demonstrated work experience in a related field. Prefer experience within the packaging industry.
