Global Finance Operations

The Global Finance Operations (GFO) team is an organization established within Dow Jones to support the global finance operations of Dow Jones and some NewsCorp entities. GFO provides value by developing and delivering a suite of business solutions and support services that are valued by our internal and external customers. Position Title: Process Automation Manager

Location: Princeton, NJ (hybrid)

Reports To: Project Manager, GFO

Position Overview

The Process Automation Manager (PAM) collaborates with Global Finance Operations subject matter experts to review business processes and related pain points, then identify potential opportunities for process automation efficiencies. The PAM will work closely with the Senior Vice President’s direct leadership team to gauge direction, align on areas of focus, work through project plans, and execute changes, all while ensuring minimal disruption and optimal effectiveness. Ultimately, the PAM will build end-to-end solutions that automate and streamline processes. These improvements may reduce costs, increase efficiencies, improve effectiveness, elevate customer service, and/or reduce risk and exposure. While this role is based around tools available, robotics process automation (RPA) is not out of scope, and the PAM is expected to spearhead this.

Position Responsibilities

  • Develop deep knowledge of Dow Jones’s processes and products
  • Conduct business process analyses and needs assessments
  • Provide input to cost/benefit analyses
  • Review current processes, understand flows and outcomes, and build requirements to help assess the “after” state
  • Develop and configure revised/new workflows based on said requirements
  • Explore all possible options to improve processes and determine the best, safest, and most effective way forward
  • Review and make cases for potential robotics enhancements
  • Provide solutions in areas of technical support, training, data integrity, and information security
  • Work with the Project Management Team to align on projects, identifying which existing solutions can be fixed/automated and which must be replaced
  • Work with the SLT and SMEs to ensure process changes are appropriate, effective, and well documented
  • Work with various business stakeholders within and outside of GFO to plan and develop the deployment of any automation including requirements gathering, developing, debugging, and testing
  • Communicate clearly and concisely, both in writing and verbally, with internal GFO, external business, and leadership

Key Qualifications

The ideal candidate will have the following experiences/capabilities:

  • Willingness and ability to work on-site in the Princeton, NJ office up to three days per week
  • Minimum two years of process automation experience (ideally, but not necessarily, in the finance space) that includes performing business analyses to identify problems and/or opportunities for improvement, then creating the future solution state
  • Experience with automation software such as Alteryx, Knime, Tableau Prep, and/or other ETL tools/solutions
  • Coding/development experience as part of work projects utilizing Python, R-script, JavaScript, and/or SQL
  • Experience with data management, reporting, and dashboards
  • Advanced use of Excel formulas, macros, pivots, and other functions
  • Ability to understand existing Excel data transformations and to transition to more automated methods
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills with experience:
  • presenting to a variety of audiences
  • engaging with all levels of management
  • explaining abstract concepts to stakeholders
  • advocating for continuous improvement with a positive approach
  • Awareness of RPA design patterns and practices
  • Ability to both understand a business process from a workflow diagram and to conceptualize it as an automated solution
  • Ability to listen and understand complex processes utilizing many systems and processes
  • Ability to think outside of the box
  • Experience successfully managing multiple high priority projects at once
  • Ability to create training material and provide training across all levels
  • BS/BA degree in Finance, Economics, Business, Computer Science, Information Systems, or other relevant field (progressive work experience in lieu of degree is acceptable)
  • Experience with the following tools is preferred:
  • Google Workspaces
  • SAP
  • Peoplesoft
  • Workday
  • Salesforce
