The Product Manager will use solid business acumen and strong execution and customer focus to implement tactics, assess results and adapt based upon outcomes.
Responsibilities:
- Manage day-to-day activities of your assigned product line(s) with suppliers
- Use your skill at cultivating supplier relationships to lead negotiations and contract resolutions
- Leverage your category and industry expertise, data, and insights to help execute cross-functional initiatives to drive the business by serving as the Subject Matter Expert for your assigned product line(s)
- Create customer solutions for assigned product line(s) and lead execution in partnership with Sales
- Partner with the Category Operations team to implement pricing strategy and improve processes
- Monitor product line contribution margin (sales, cost, coop negotiation, supply chain opportunities) to identify and lead execution of actions to drive growth
- Articulate product line value propositions and whitespace
- Manage product, brand, and vendor rationalization
- Prepare thorough vendor performance reviews
Qualifications:
The self-directed, category management professional we seek should have these skills and competencies.
- Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Marketing, Supply Chain, or a related field
- At least five years of experience in distribution, supplier management and negotiations, business development, product management, marketing or merchandising management, or supply chain
- Ability to manage cross-functional initiatives and successfully navigate the organization’s people and processes to accomplish objectives
- Strong customer focus and understanding of their needs and expectations in addition to market direction and trends
- Ability to diagnose problems quickly and find solutions
- Comfortable negotiating externally and representing the best interests of the company
- Strong written and verbal communications with presentation experience
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite
- A valid driver’s license and the ability to travel up to 20% of the time
