Quality Inspector

The Quality Inspectors are expected to visually and manually inspect the baskets for conformity to customer standards of style, dimensions, and component functionality. These inspections consist of checking for pin holes and surface blemishes, tine placement and alignment, wheel functionality, basket shape and dimensions against an approved template, and recording efforts.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

• Inspects baskets for conformance to assembly, finish, and functionality specifications using eyes and hands.
• Adjusts, cleans, or repairs baskets to correct defects noted during inspections.
• Records production information, including defects in computer data base.
• Moves transporter carts safely from assembly areas to designated holding areas.
• Rejects baskets not meeting specifications by reject codes – pits, burrs, bent wire, dimensions, and texture.
• Arranges inspected baskets for shipping by lifting, reaching, and stacking in transport carts.
• Locates transport carts containing baskets to be inspected by identifying delivery list/job order/transporter cart number.
• Marks questionable areas on baskets with stickers for follow-up activity
• Discusses inspection results, including potential corrective action steps, with responsible parties.
• Cleans and maintains measuring instruments and test equipment.
• Communicates with others (leadership/maintenance) in response to job needs.
• Compares basket dimensions, shapes, and textures against templates to verify conformance to established standards.

KNOWLEDGE AND SKILL REQUIREMENTS

• Basic reading, writing, and arithmetic skills required. This is normally acquired through a high school diploma or equivalent.
• Applied Mathematics, Locating Information, Reading for Information, Teamwork, and Workplace Observation.
• Manual dexterity required for operating machinery and computers.
• Ability to lift up to 30 pounds required.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $13.00 - $14.00 per hour
