Responsibilities:
Evaluates and determines the budgetary needs and priorities of the section, including equipment, staffing and materials;
Applies current engineering principles and techniques for the solution of traffic problems and the development of long and short range traffic planning.
Monitors and maintains overall inventory levels for supplies, vehicles and equipment, and overseeing their purchase, operation, and storage;
Aid in report writing for management or other administrative areas regarding such subjects as product research, work plans and activities, and operational problems;
Using independent judgment and discretion in the interpretation and execution of policies governing local transportation and traffic engineering programs
Investigates traffic related situations and implements improvements measure as the result of requests, complaints, and inquiries.
Assigns, schedules, supervises, and reviews work assigned to crew employees
Assist in the management of crews completing the marking and identification of construction zones and areas for striping, lane closures, and installation of barrier walls.
Assist in the management of crews setting up and removing lane closures at specified times and ensuring safety and compliance with FDOT specifications.
Management of message boards/program boards
Management of loading and unloading all MOT equipment/devices
Assisting in MOT inspections of equipment
Performs other related duties as required and assigned.
Qualifications:
Seven years of increasingly responsible experience in street construction, maintenance and repair work.
Must be able to communicate effectively
Previous relevant highway/roadway construction experience
Must be familiar with MOT/Safety procedures
High School diploma
