Job Posting for Project Controller at Dragados USA, Inc
Dragados USA is seeking a Project Controller to support the Chesapeake Bay Bridge Tunnel expansion project. This role will focus primarily in performing all required accounting functions of the project in a timely and accurate manner.
Principal/Essential Duties & Responsibilities
Maintains operation of all accounting functions and procedures keeping updated on all requirements.
Supervises a team of accounts payable staff, senior accountant, and payroll specialist to ensure the department accomplishes accounting objectives; Mentoring and professional development of the accounting team.
Monitors daily cash balances in operating bank accounts to cover obligations
Prepares monthly cash projection reports
Review all AP batch edits before updating it the ERP system.
Accrues, prepares and remits appropriate sales taxes as necessary.
Processes and reviews all accounts payable and sub-contractor payments.
Reviewing all weekly checks runs and ACH payments and all the corresponding back up documents supporting the payment.
Provides computer input and performs analytical review of reports generated
Improve the work flow process, document the work instructions and record training sessions in Teams.
Utilizes computer software systems for the preparation of reports, spreadsheets and other accounting analysis that may be required by management.
Formulate daily, weekly, month end journal entries and other journal entries as needed.
Accurately reviews weekly field and office payrolls.
Maintains all project's operating accounts including deposits, disbursements and balancing.
Supports local as well as in certain regional teams, including team members located internationally.
Participate in monthly accrual meetings with the construction managers, cost control engineers, etc.
Reviews and book the cost accrual every month.
Reviews and book all the weekly hourly payroll and bi weekly salaried payroll and their corresponding accrual for the remainder of the month.
Ensures accuracy and completeness of master data including resource information; project, activity, and resource codes; enterprise project structure; security profiles; licensing information, etc.
Participates in the development of the work breakdown structure, interfacing with Procurement, Engineering, and Finance Departments
Supports senior accountant with all task assigned.
Review and check all account analysis of all balance sheet accounts.
Performs year- end audit and 6-month review with company CPA firm.
Interfaces with the Project Manager and Executives to accurately charge and code invoices to proper Job Cost and General Ledger
Reviews construction contracts for obligations related to accounting and insurance
Basic Qualifications
Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or related degree required.
Ten (10) years of progressive finance and accounting experience.
Knowledge of month end close and preparing the financial statements is required.
Construction and Payroll, experience is preferred but required.
Broad knowledge of GAAP and related internal control structures for financial accounting and reporting systems and processes
Ability to plan and manage multiple tasks/projects, training and review of our processes.
Ability to work well as an integral part of a large project team
Knowledge and experience with Excel and ERP System.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Strong analytic, organizational and interpersonal skills.
