RESPONSIBILITIES
Serving as the primary point of contact for MTA/MDOT along with the Stakeholder Manager.
Overseeing implementation of the final communications/outreach and development of plans related to major pieces of work and project milestones, including internal audit/quality assurance of the overall plans.
Managing and processing open records requests related to the Project.
Managing media relations, in collaboration and coordination with the Stakeholder Manager and MTA/MDOT including:
Writing and distributing press material.
Responding to media inquiries.
Providing/pitching stories when appropriate.
Placing print, website and radio traffic tag advertising when appropriate.
Working with MTA/MDOT to develop appropriate media messages.
Supporting Government Relations, including:
Conducting periodic briefing updates with elected officials and Project Stakeholders.
Developing appropriate collateral materials to keep elected officials and municipal staff members informed.
Working with Project Management to assist with answering Stakeholders’ questions and tracking concerns.
Attend appropriate meetings to gather current and accurate Project information from the Construction Management team.
Overseeing the implementation of the Crisis Communications Plan, including conducting ongoing crisis communications and media training for key project personnel.
Serving as the liaison to the person assigned to coordinate initial response to any major Incident or Emergency.
Supervising subcontractor vendors who will provide services such as printing, graphic design, text messaging, information distribution, advertising development, website design, photography, etc.
Taking photographs and video of construction operations, including special project events, public meetings, etc., as necessary to maintain a library of project images for use in printed materials, on the website and as part of other communication efforts.
Serving as the primary point of contact to ensure traffic and incident information is shared with commuters in a timely manner via appropriate signage, email communication, website and social media postings, etc.
Coordinating with MTA/MDOT in managing a presentation schedule and participating in the delivery of project update presentations to various community groups.
Generating reports/analytics from the public contact database to track the number of people who contacted the Project, the current issues of concern, the follow-up actions taken and an estimate of the number of people reached through the various communication activities.
In coordination and collaboration with MTA/MDOT, leading the planning of any special events including groundbreaking, ribbon cutting or any other interim milestone events as necessary and developing appropriate information for these events.
Gathering feedback/input from Stakeholders and Customer Groups and sharing with Project leadership to develop more focused outreach plans as the project progresses.
Managing the construction content of the Project’s website.
Providing weekly and monthly Project Status Reports as needed.
Managing Project information and collateral materials including:
Updating digital/printed materials as needed.
Developing new informational materials as appropriate.
Serving as a primary point of contact for businesses along the Project.
Working with businesses affected by the Project to help minimize construction impacts on their customers and employees by providing advance notifications. This will include developing signage as needed.
Managing Community Relations including:
Construction notifications.
Serving as the primary point of contact for residents along the Project including responding to hotline messages.
Developing access maps and any other written information for Stakeholders and Customer Groups.
Working with residents to help minimize construction impacts on their neighborhoods.
Delivering project update presentations and support within reason to neighborhood associations.
Identifying community events where useful information might be distributed.
Working with MTA/MDOT to develop overall project themes, messages, slogans and other identifiers.
Other duties as assigned.
EDUCATION AND/OR WORK EXPERIENCE
Bachelor’s degree with major coursework in Business Management or related field, or five years increasingly responsible professional experience in Business Management, Public Relations, or Marketing including significant experience in dealing with Public Communication.
REQUIREMENTS
Capable of establishing communication channels with internal and external stakeholders along with Media Outlets
Liaise between departments and groups to gather relevant information for release
Research, collection, and analysis techniques.
Construction industry knowledge is a plus.
Social media skills.
Must be capable of creating PR campaigns.
Excellent writing skills.
Excellent communication skills.
Must be able to communicate effectively with management, general public, vendors, and subcontractors.
Strongly prefer bilingual candidates (English and Spanish).
Must be able to work overtime and be flexible with hours (day/night).
Must be able to work in a team environment and must work well under pressure.
