JOB SUMMARY:
Drake Software is an industry-leading provider of individual and business tax preparation software. Job Summary:
The Software Tester uses their quality assurance skills and attention to detail to test the operational functionality of our software. This role will work in partnership with a team of Software Developers and Tax Analysts to verify the accuracy and consistency of our software’s print and digital outputs. The Software Tester follows prepared checklists and creates test cases to verify software accuracy. Corrections to software defects, errors, and omissions are verified by the Software Tester after they are resolved by the Software Developers per requirements set forth by Tax Analysts, government tax agencies, and management.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

Work with Developers, Tax Analysts, and Managers to translate requirements into software functionality and ensure that the product meets our customer’s needs for a product that is accurate, intuitive, professional, timely, and complete.

Demonstrate sound logic with testing practices and procedures.

Test various functional and non-functional requirements in the software to ensure accuracy and completeness.

Be able to verify information contained in both print and digital formats such as: 2D barcodes, client letters, billing and pricing, UI, e-file XML, PDF format and layout, print form order, customer-facing Help documentation, software validation messaging, FAQs, data flow, and software setup configuration.

Create and maintain relevant test cases, test plans, and test scripts to execute quick and efficient tests.

Review historical data and customer feedback to look for opportunities to improve quality and enhance the user experience.

Record and track outstanding errors and enhancements.

Proactively report problems, project status, issues, and risks to management.

Be able to work simultaneously on multiple projects with strict delivery deadlines.

Provide high-level support for assigned products

Utilize excellent written communication and comprehension skills to read and understand general tax logic received from the taxing authorities, communicate in detail about software issues, and assist in preparing statements as needed for external partners such as government tax agencies, financial institutions, and customers.
SKILL AND EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS:
Qualifications:

Associate’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Business, or Accounting coursework, or minimum 2 years of related experience

Strong oral and written communication

Computer literacy required, including programs in Microsoft Office such as Excel, Word, and Outlook
Preferred Qualifications:

Quality Assurance or software testing experience a plus

Technical Support experience a plus

Experience with Atlassian-based tools such as JIRA and Confluence is a plus
